Free Music Notes for The Documentary AlbumFree Music Review: This album delivers. Hot, just plain Hot! Hit: 5 StarsThe first thing I did when I got up this morning (before showering) was make a bee-line to grab this new CD. When I got it in-hand I savagely thrust the CD into my eager player, loading....anticipatory sweat began to bead on my backhair....loading...
...30 minutes later, if you asked "how is it!?", you'd get no answer. That'd be my answer. Aside from the fact it'd be booming at crippling decibels, this CD'll put you in a trance. Certain tracks will have you pressing "repeat" until your battery drains (or speakers bottom and blow out).
Maybe like you, when I first heard "Westside Story" it was one of those "we got a new one" moments; like hearing "Nuthin' but a "G" Thang", or "My Name Is" for the first time, I thought "whoever this is, is gonna be the next 50 Cent".
I'm happy to report that this CD lives up to all the hype. Below is a list of my favorite tracks on the album:
Hate It or Love It: One of the hottest tracks on this CD. 50 Cent starts in on this one, takes you back to the 90's and the Boyz in the Hood style life that Compton was to them. Good melody, fast paced lyrical melancholy.
How We Do: 50 and Game's hottest track together. It's all over the radio, even I'm tiring of it after my 200th listen. This track should stand the test of time tho.
Put You On the Game: Southern Timbaland goodness! This hard hitting banger will no doubt be shaking streets from LA to Louisiana. After a handful of listens, this is probably my favorite on the CD.
The Documentary: Dr. Dre weighs in heavy on this heavy joint. Solid anthem style beat. Again, allot of honesty; details his opinions and experiences (both good and bad) with artists from Ja Rule to Busta Rhymes.
No More Fun and Games: Funky NWA montage. My only complaint about this track is that it's only 2 min. 37 seconds. Plain hot.
Like Father, Like Son: An honest account of the birth of his son. The hope, the fear. Not sure, but I think Busta did the chorus for this one (didn't get the CD cover). Addictive rhythm.
Unlike allot of much-hyped CD's, this one is an all-around-performer. Most every track is good, some, as explained above, are so hot, they'll be sure to keep your speakers straining for months.
Enjoy.
