Free Music Review: Music that gives the lions of Tsavo respect

One of my favorite Goldsmith soundtracks. The main theme reminds me of the antics of a lion cub, and is a catchy tune that I always have in my head while I'm at work. It's enough to put anyone in a happy mood! But my favorite parts of this album begin at track #3, "Lions Attack." The daunting mood this music sets is half of what makes the movie itself such a gripping film. The haunting chanting and wailing of the singer in the background gives this soundtrack a primitive, wild feel, and immerses you into the world where man-eaters are fact, not fiction. The rest of the soundtrack continues with a mixture of the upbeat main theme and the dramatic collection of melodies that seem to follow the lions and the fear they impress. It all seems to peak at my favorite track, #7 "Lions Reign." It fills me with fear, and awe, that such fierce cats did exist at one point, and did wreak havoc on many lives before they were finally destroyed. Being a misanthrope, I can't help but root for animals that fight so hard, not only to kill, but to live.
The last five tracks are various African chants, some of which are barely audible or not included in the film at all, but they only add to the feel of the album. Very African inspired. Worth ever cent if you're an avid soundtrack collector like me!
