Free Music Notes for Greatest Hits Vol. 1 - The SinglesFree Music Review: Goo Goo Dolls Greatest Hits Hit: 4 StarsThis album contains the songs that most people would recognize as GGD. It's a nice addition to one's collection. Listen to the orignial albums in their entirety and I promise you will not be disappoined. Also, I don't see the need for a new version of "Name", the original was perfection.
Free Music Review: most popular hits - worst music. Hit: 1 StarsThis band made their best music 5 records ago... Superstar Carwash and Hold Me Up are all you will ever need to own from this band. Boy Named Goo had some great moments too.
Free Music Review: I like this but... Hit: 4 StarsI like this but I feel the sequencing could have been a little bit better, maybe in chronilogical order. Why is Iris the last track? The new version of Name is good, but no way does it compare to the original. Hopefully there will be a volume 2 in the near future as the band already has enough soundtrack hits to fill up that cd.
Free Music Review: Lackluster Version Of Name Spoils Collection Hit: 2 StarsThere is an old saying that could well be applied to the Goo Goo Dolls decision to redo Name, if it's not broke don't fix it. Name was one of the Goo's strongest songs, a very well produced pop ballad. The new version of Name sounds sloppy and tired. So why mess with it? So fans can get the original on volume 2? This is disgusting and pointless. Perhaps a consensus of songs from the fans should be taken before any greatest hits album is ever assembled.
Free Music Review: GREAT ALBUM, NICE GUYS Hit: 5 StarsThis is an amazing album. I absolutely love it and can't even count how many times I've listened to it, since I bought it two weeks ago. Strong songs. Thoughtful lyrics. Exceptionally talented musicians. Can't go wrong with this one! By the way, when the CD was first released, I found out that the Goo Goo Dolls were going to perform at a local L.A. electronics/CD/DVD store. I'd never gone to any of their concerts before, and I went there, expecting to hear, maybe, three songs performed in some corner of the store. WRONG! A full-size stage was set up in the parking lot, complete with elaborate lighting and sound. About 300 lucky fans were treated to a nothing-held-back, 35-40 minute concert. (You can probably find it somewhere, online. Cameras, camera phones, and video cameras were allowed.) Afterwards, Warner Bros. workers handed out free posters and the three band members signed autographs inside the store. Very nice guys. Very, very, very good CD.
