Free Music Review: The Haunting Haunts

Jerry Goldsmith's score to this version is one of his master genius composition and his unique touch is all over the score. Though the film didn't go down well with the critics, I found it rather enjoyable. Unlike his previous score to the supernatural genre namely The Omen series and Poltergeist where his music really brings out the fear, this scores takes the listener into a realm of quiet and surreal surroundings and builts up into a crescendo of fear and terror and ends it with a nice touch of a childlike lullaby. The only thing about the album that it's duration playing time is short. There are cues from the film that didn't make it to the soundtrack album which is a pity. For Goldsmith's music really shines throughout the entire proceedings. Mr.Goldsmith has the knack to conjure visions in the mind when you are not watching the film and his stroke of genius is really something that the film industry should be proud of. Maybe Varese Sarabande could come up with an expanded version to this soundtrack. The music of 'The Haunting' really haunts you even after listening to the score. Bravo!
