Free Music Notes for The Heroin Diaries SoundtrackFree Music Review: Not usually my style... Hit: 5 StarsI usually like my music A LOT heavier and faster, but I dabble in some rock every now and then. It takes something unique to catch my ear though - the songwriting has to really stand out. Sixx:A.M. has done that. VERY catchy songs with great melodies and riffs. The vocalist shows a lot of different variations on his singing and does a great job relating emotion in the songs. I was surprised at how much I like this cd and hope they keep writing songs together. I even gave the new Motley Crue a try, but it bored me. (don't own any Crue releases)
Free Music Review: It's not Crue, It's Sixx AM Hit: 5 StarsThe editorial review was rather harsh on this release. This is NOT Motle Crue. This is Nikki Sixx's current project. I think the reviewer forgot that. The customer reviews have been far more telling of the quality of the music.
The songs are powerful and thoughtful. The lyrics have a way of sticking in your head, and the music has way of making you turn up the volume. And Sixx's voice has a powerful resonating quality that I could listen to all day, and sometimes I have.
I would suggest it to any one, not just Crue fans. It's just good rock music.
Free Music Review: Amazing! Hit: 5 StarsSimply put this album is amazing. I was never a big Motley Crue fan, and never really payed much attention to any of the members and what they were/are doing. For some reason I picked up this album, I think after maybe hearing an interview with Sixx on my local radio station. I thought "hmmm sounds like an interesting concept, a soundtrack to a book." So I bought the album, and absolutly love it. One of the best albums I've heard in a while. It's emotional, it's depressing at times, uplifting at others. Finally an album that makes me feel something and moves me. Plus I can't get "courtesy call" out of my head.
Free Music Review: Very different than a Crüe follower would expect... Hit: 4 StarsWhen listening to 'Life Is Beautiful' and discovered it was Nikki Sixx, it gave me pause for thought...
While not being someone who listened to Mötley Crüe regularly, I was impressed with the way he told the story about his heroin addiction with music and song. As far as some comments about this album having a dark mood to it, I would suggest the album has a more straight forward music arrangement with song writing that speaks to the realities of drug addiction.
The songs do work well together in the form of a concept album. My only criticism is the overuse of the monologue before and after some songs. This would be a worthwhile purchase for those who listen to this genre of music.
Free Music Review: Six AM is definitely honest with their addiction Hit: 5 StarsDead Man's Ballet is my favorite while all the other songs are great as usual.
