Free Music Notes for The Heroin Diaries SoundtrackFree Music Review: Genius Hit: 5 StarsThis CD is absolutely genius. Taken from what Nikki Sixx has been thru during his life to create this, is just beyond amazing.
Free Music Review: Heroin Diaries Hit: 5 StarsLove the songs. Great guitar. Very interesting commentaries by Nikki. Most of us can only imgagine what it was like.
Free Music Review: Brilliant, way beyond what you expect Hit: 5 StarsThe fact that this goes along with the book, is amazing. I've read the book and played the CD along with it, and it really does add to the experience. The music stands up strong by itself, and Nikki Sixx could have a really strong run releasing CD's by Sixx Am in the future.
I tried this whole book/CD approach with the Chris Jericho book "Around The World in Spandex" with the new Fozzy CD/DVD All That Remains Reloaded, and oddly enough it was very cool...though I like the Fozzy CD just slightly more than the Sixx AM...but their both great releases.
Free Music Review: Love It... Hit: 5 StarsNever having been a fan of Motley Crew (I think I may be a little young) I first heard Life is Beautiful on the radio and fell in love with the song. That led me on a search for more information on the band members and the stories behind the album. I'm always hesitant to buy an album based on one song, but I took the plunge and I don't regret it.
Realize that Life is Beautiful is very different from most of what you'll hear on the album. What you will hear is a brutally honest account of the life of a heroin addict. There's a lot of spoken word, pulled directly from the pages of Nikki Sixx's journals, but along with that are lyrics that will pull at your heart-strings and put you in the world of the addict - which is scary, depressing, and self-loathing.
The instrumentation is brilliant, almost symphonic, combining styles from all over the rock universe. Every song is unique, with a unique message and play style. James Michael's voice makes you wonder why he's a producer and not a front-man for some huge band. I haven't read the book yet, but I think the whole album is perfectly understandable without it.
If you're buying this album for 13 different versions of Life is Beautiful, then just buy the single and be done with it. If you're interested in a journey through a single man's struggle with addiction, then buy this album!
Free Music Review: Best Rock Album Hit: 5 StarsThis album has really inspired me to successfully recover from my addictions...I am thankful and forever grateful to Nikki Sixx for making such great music about overcoming major obstacles in the life of an addict, and now a recovered addit. This Album will be my favorite forever.
