Free Music Notes for Irish Jigs And Reels

Free Music Review: Wonderful jigs and reels!
Hit: 5 Stars

A foot tapping collection of Irish jigs and reels that make you want to dance, even if it's in the living room. Very enjoyable - and reflects the spirit of Irish folk music. Tops!

Free Music Review: good album
Hit: 5 Stars

I actually got it for my dad...he loves this type of music.

But I copied it for myself...and really liked it. Its a great "I need motivation to move around and clean my house" kinda music. Good for a workout too.

Free Music Review: Warning

If you're looking at Amazon's track list for this CD and the first song is "The Dusty Miller/Cucanandy," be aware that you will probably be sent a different "Irish Jigs and Reels" with the same cover/color scheme, but a different set of songs. I own the CD with "The Dusty Miller/Cucanandy," which I ordered from Amazon a few months ago, and it is excellent. However, I recently ordered another copy as a gift and was surprised to see a new set of songs on an otherwise identical-looking CD. They sent a replacement and it was still the wrong one.

I listened to the "updated" CD and it's not nearly as good as the previous one, but enjoyable nonetheless. It consists of 12 fast-paced reels/jigs and no singing. I gave the one-star rating so people can be aware of this discrepancy.

Free Music Review: Looks like the right CD... but it's not

To see my comment, please check out the 1-star review that BlueNote wrote. I made a comment off his review about how the same thing happened to me. BEWARE!! The CD you receive will probably not be the one you ordered!!

Free Music Review: Get down Boyo!
Hit: 4 Stars

I am one of these guys who is of Irish descent but grew up in a completely Americanized household and neighborhood. I have virtually no first-hand experience with Irish culture aside from the few remnants that may have trickled down to me through the generations. Nevertheless, I still feel a vague connection to the culture and people and wanted to get in touch with my Irishness, so to speak. Hence, I purchased 'Irish Jigs and Reels.' I found this CD to be quite a pleasant listening experience and it seems to be a good representation of Irish folk music. It's almost all instrumental, but it's very upbeat and uplifting. Lots of fiddles, flutes, accordians, etc. If I was dancer I could picture myself doing a jig to it, and if I was a drinker, I could definitely picture myself throwing down a few (dozen) pints to it. As it is now, I just listen to it in my car and try to be one with the Boyo in me. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that most of the songs sound so similar, with the exception of a different tempo here and there. This seems to be the case with most Irish folk music I've heard but perhaps this is just my amateur ear. Nevertheless, an enjoyable CD, and for five bucks, how can you go wrong?
