Free Music Notes for The Irish Tenors / McNamara, McDermott, Kearns, Tynan

Free Music Review: One of the best CD's made!
Hit: 5 Stars

The Irish Tenors is one of our favorite CD's to listen to. It is extremly rare today to find singers with wonderful voices. so many think they do but actully sing through their nose or throat. We really enjoy their CD's and hope that they will make more in the future.

THIS GROUP OF SINGERS ARE THE BEST AROUND - AND THEY EACH DO THIRE OWN WORK AS WELL -I PERSONALLY LIKE JOHN THE MOST-ANTHONY RONAN AND FINBAR ARE ALSO VERY GOOD.

Free Music Review: Music for the soul
Hit: 5 Stars

This is wonderful music. Listen carefully to "only our rivers run free" and "town I loved so well" then shed some tears for the Irish. Then to "galway bay" and "Irish eyes" for the joy of being irish. The whole CD is full of incredible music. All of it is perfect.

Free Music Review: AN EMOTIONAL ROLLER-COASTER!
Hit: 5 Stars

I first heard the Irish Tenors when their "Live in Belfast" performance aired on PBS. I had never even heard of John McDermott before his surprise appearance then, therefore I felt that Finbar Wright filled the vacancy admirably. But now that I have bought the "Irish Tenors" (live from Dublin) CD, I find I have enjoyed it every bit as much as I did the other. All four of the tenors seem to have the ability to project EVERY emotion imaginable, and to carry their listeners along with them. Each has his own voice quality and his own distinct personality, yet when they sing together, the blend is so lovely. I have to say, though, that for breathtaking beauty, purity of tone, and unfailing accuracy, Anthony Kearns is my #1 choice. I love the way he ornaments a note before he finally settles on it. He sings the patriotic songs, the songs of sadness and longing, and the absolutely silly songs with equal skill. But then there is Ronan Tynan--now that I have learned a little about him, I have a new admiration for him. His personality really comes through when he sings, and it's a joy to watch him as well as to hear him. I suppose John McDermott is the most "authentic" of the four; I especially liked his rendition of "The Old Man." I love them all. My father used to sing "Toora Loora Loora" when I was very young, so that really brought back memories. "Only Our Rivers Run Free" makes my hair stand on end. "Will Ye Go, Lassie?" is one I never tire of hearing, and "The Spanish Lady" is another fun song. I am of Irish descent; maybe that has something to do with my deep feelings about these men and their songs. I am wearing out my CD!
