Free Music Notes for Sawdust

Free Music Review: Sawdust
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a collection of songs that were either unrecored or released as B-Sides overseas. They're all good songs but there is one that stands out and it's Sweet Talk. You will love this song from the moment it starts and it gets better as it goes along. Leave the Bourbon On the Shelf is another new one that is being released for the first time and is part of a trilogy of songs. Bourbon is the first part of murder trilogy about a girl named Jennifer, then you will have to go back to Hot Fuss and play Midnight Show, then finish it off with Jenny Was a Friend of Mine. It's alot of fun to play them all in a row and listen to how it all plays out. Look around online and find the footage of them playing them all in a row for the first time, it's great. I would definatly reccomend this for everyone.

Free Music Review: Even their b-sides are brilliant
Hit: 5 Stars

No, a rarities and b-sides collection is not as coherent as a whole album, it does have some weaker spots that are interesting for fans mainly. Usually.
Well... Sawdust isn't as coherent as Hot Fuss and Sams Town, and it has indeed some weaker spots (Who let you go and ... errr....). But, man, again it is mostly great. It takes two or three times to get hooked to the beauty of Ruby, Sams Town unplugged or great rock-songs like Leave the Bourbon, Sweet Talk, Ballad of MV, and, well, mostly anything on the album.
Yes on this collection they do sound a bit more like other bands. Well, they were supposed to imitate Joy Division right? But you hear a bit of U2, Bruce Spingsteen etc. Who cares?
The best part is Tranquilize, easily one of their strongest songs ever.

Free Music Review: "Take me to the place where the white boys dance..."
Hit: 5 Stars

The Killer's Sawdust contains b-sides and rarities, and one new track called Tranquilize featuring Lou Reed. To my delight, Sawdust is an enjoyable album, the unreleased tracks have great melodies and interesting lyrics. Some of the tracks I have heard before like The Ballad of Michael Valentine, Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll, and Under the Gun from the Hot Fuss Special Edition LP. Some of my favorite songs from Sawdust include: Sweet Talk, All The Pretty Faces, Move Away, Who Let You Go?, Romeo & Juliet, Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf, Daddy's Eyes, Where the White Boys Dance, and Sam's Town (Abbey Road Version). Hard to believe some of these songs didn't make it on their last two studio albums, The Killers continue to churn out pop/rock masterpieces. Get Sawdust today!

Free Music Review: Great Compilation from an Outstanding Band
Hit: 5 Stars

Since my purchase of Sawdust, I have not been able to stop listening to it. Many of b-sides are just as good (some even better) as songs that have appeared on the Killers two studio albums. Saying that, the album does have a few low points (i.e. "Show You How" and "Who Let You Go?"). There are a lot of outstanding songs to be found here, like the new single "Tranquilize" which is a duet with Lou Reed and "Romeo and Juliet," a Dire Straights cover. Fans of the Killers are more likely to appreciate this compilation rather than the casual listeners. Definitely worth the purchase and will hopefully hold us fans over until the release of their next studio album.

Free Music Review: For this to be B-Sides....is incredible!
Hit: 5 Stars

For myself, I wouldn't care if The Killers came out with an album of B-sides like Sawdust every 6 months if all of the songs are as great as these are. The songs on here are a mixture of the sound of Hot Fuss and the sound of Sam's Town and then a dash of neither for good measure. With the exception of "Move Away" I can, and have, listened to most of the single tracks with the repeat button on because they are that great!

As long as you are not a person who gets twisted up in knots when someone breaks what is perceived as protocol for artists in the music industry, then this would be an album you could enjoy as much as Hot Fuss or Sam's Town.
