Free Music Notes for The Lake HouseFree Music Review: Lush & Melodic Hit: 5 Stars
This CD had been on my wish list for a very long time. Watching the film, I thought it sounded gorgeous & made a note to find it. Time and recordings for which they can secure rights to put on a soundtrack CD limit producers; so while not all of the music from this film may be on this disc, it is a lovely score. Rachel Portman won the Oscar for Best Original Score for "Emma" and received nominations for scores from "The Cider House Rules" and "Chocolat." The instrumental score on cuts like "You Waited" lifts up the mood in the film and stands on its own as a musical piece followed by the closer "I Waited" that conveys peace, fulfillment and transcendent joy. My favorite track is "The Lakehouse" that opens with such a curious tentative beginning as if the curtain is being drawn back on the story, revealing the glass house on the lake. This piece is breathtakingly lovely. Paul McCartney's track "This Never Happened Before" that appeared on his CD Chaos and Creation in the Backyard is an excellent opener. Nick Drake's "Time Has Told Me" brings this quiet songwriter to the disc. Carole King's "It's Too Late" from her classic "Tapestry" CD sounds great in this remastered version. The music on this soundtrack is what moved me in the film, well worth seeking out for those who love lush and melodic music. Enjoy!
Free Music Review: A wistful movie soundtrack that soothes you! Hit: 5 Stars
Having loved the movie "The Lake House" and the music in it, I bought the CD and was instantly transported back to the film.
Highlights are Paul McCartney's lovely "This Never Happened Before" (used in the Kate/Alex dance scene to full romantic effect) and "(Can't Seem To) Make You Mine" by The Clientele, which sets the wistful, melancholy mood of the movie as it plays at the very beginning.
The bulk of the CD, however, is made up of the movie's lush score, composed to perfection by Rachel Portman. All pieces fit perfectly within the scenes that the tracks are named for. I especially loved the ending tracks, "Wait For Me", "You Waited", and "I Waited", all used at the climax of the movie's ending. It was full of heightened emotion, and it matched the context to perfection.
This is the type of CD that is great for unwinding after a stressful day and just relaxing. The melody transports yo back to the romance of the movie. But, even if one has never had the pleasure of seeing the movie and likes instrumental/mood pieces, buy this. There will be no regrets.
Free Music Review: A wonderful way to relive the movie! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a short review to say just how much I'm enjoying the motion picture soundtrack to The Lake House. Though I now seem to be watching the DVD of The Lake House at least once every week, I'm listening to the musical soundtrack everyday. I wish Rosemary Clooney's song, There Will Never Be Another You, was on the CD, as well as the instrumental music that was played when Alex plants the tree in from of Kate's future apartment complex in Chicago. Still, this is a great CD with music that brings back the most wonderful memories of the movie. In my opinion, this is what movie music is supposed to do. A really good soundtrack has to be able to stand on its own, and The Lake House does with flying colors. If you enjoyed the film, then you'll love having the CD to listen to.
Free Music Review: Soothing music for the romantic soul Hit: 5 Stars
Why can't these two actors make more movies together? They were so incredible together in SPEED as young actors and obviously they only improved with time. This movie was so incredibly romantic, I rented it and subsequently bought the DVD along with it's awesome Sound Track. You must get both. The sound track is so soothing, I play it all day long, while cooking or just relaxing with a cup of tea.
As others have said, don't try to analyze the movie too much. I've watched it over 6 times and I'm still puzzled over certain spots. Just enjoy the simple plot of a parallel universe where two lovers meet and set the screen on fire with their heat. One of the best romantic movies I've seen in a very long time.
Free Music Review: Perfect Album to Remember the Film Hit: 5 Stars
ALL the best songs from the film are on this album PLUS the complete score by Rachel Portman know for stunning scores on others films such as CHOCOLATE'. How can you go wrong with Paul McCartney, Carole King and Nick Drake? Plus the amazing opening title song by The Clientelle!
Although the two Rosemary Clooney songs are abset from this collection, they are not the from key emotional scenes in the film in the same way the above mentioned songs are.
McCartney's tune does double duty in the film and as end titles. Carole King is played during one of the most important scenes in the entire movie. Nick Drake is absolutely moving and The Clientelle set the mood during the opening titles with perfect form. 5 STARS, BRAVO!
