Free Music Notes for The Life Aquatic with Steve ZissouFree Music Review: MusicalGenius "Jeremy" is an idiot Hit: 5 Stars
Before writing a review under the guise of a "musical genius", you should really do your research. I have nothing against the guy for not liking the soundtrack, but have some respect for brazillian music. Seu Jorge is Brazillian not Phillipino, moron. Second Salsa is neither Philipino nor Brazillian so before you call any song that isn't american Salsa pay attention stupid. It's called Samba and it's amazing. You didn't have to like the film to aprreciate the sheer genius of the soundtrack. If you liked the soundtrack then check out Seu Jorge's CD "Carolina" it's beautiful. So, yeah unfortunately there are ignorant reviewers on the site, but if you want a great CD that you can listen too all day long, this is the soundtrack for you. Enjoy!
Free Music Review: Great soundtrack from a great movie Hit: 5 Stars
"The life Aquatic" is equal parts Monty Python, Yellow Submarine, and Jacques Cousteau on acid. You're probably reading this because you saw the movie, but if you haven't, either rent or buy it right now. Bill Murray's deadpan surrealistic affect will make you fall off your chair laughing till you cry. I'm not usually into soundtracks, since most contain only a few songs that are worthwhile. If you're a David Bowie fan, this soundtrack is a must have. If you also happen to be a Seu Jorge fan, then the reward is double. Jorge shows up in the movie for no apparent reason other than to sit and strum David Bowie songs. The rest of the songs on the soundtrack are perfectly in sync with the pace of the movie, and are just icing on the cake.
Free Music Review: Worth it for Bowie covers alone Hit: 5 Stars
Beyond being a perfectly acceptable, and in many places an exceptional soundtrack to a great movie, this is just a really good CD. This thing is worth picking up for the new original score stuff (if you are a Mark Mothersbaugh fan) or for the other random gems (The Zombies and Iggy and the Stooges in particular). Mostly, I would recommend this one to Bowie fans and/or people who like a solid acoustic interpretation of popular songs. Seu Jorge does some great tracks, and all of them are recorded throughout the film on different sets (according to liner notes), which gives the listener the feeling of just sitting around and listening to a talented friend play guitar and sing... in Portugese. Go on, buy it, you know you want to.
Free Music Review: Not Since Labyrinth have I heared so much Bowie Hit: 5 Stars
Repeating first my review's title, not since labyrinth have I heared so much bowie. Glam rock seems so at home with the smart humor of this great film. Of course the bowie covers are sung in Portuguise and with but a single guitar but they are stupendous. if I could give this soundtrack a 6 out of 5 stars I would. Great for listening to while cruising in the afternoon, or coming down after a hard day at work. but then you have Iggy Pop... let me just say that if you enjoyed the movie give the soundtrack a chance, Laugh at the jokes in the movie knowing that 90% of the audience doesn't get it and finally remember no soundtrack can be complete without a little bowie!
Free Music Review: my first soundtrack. Hit: 5 Stars
i love the movie so much that i had to splurge a little and buy the soundtrack. to be honest, this is the first soundtrack i have ever purchased and i'm having a great time with it, trying to figure out what songs were in what scenes and all that. i just really admire how its not your standard movie soundtrack, just randomly putting big name artist here and popular song there. the soundtrack to this great movie is a mix of david bowie, david bowie songs sung in portuguese, original songs for the movie itself, and a few others. together, it made for a great backround to wes anderson's latest feature. i thoroughly enjoy this soundtrack.
