Free Music Notes for The Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring (The Complete Recordings)Free Music Review: Justification for the cost Hit: 5 Stars
This is no doubt one of the best soundtracks EVER made. So instead of three pages of praise, I'm going to direct this to those that feel the pricing is too much. The FOTR OST is 71 minutes long and retailed for $19.98. FOTR:CR is 3 hours long, nearly three times the length of the OST and retails for $59.98 (Amazon sells it for $39.97 currently, however), roughly three times the cost. Considering the music alone, the Complete Recordings may seem a bit expensive; however, taking into account the must have "The Music of the Lord of the Rings" booklet by Doug Adams, the beautiful leather box (minus the annoying rubber hub), and one of the best reasons to own this soundtrack - the entire score on one DVD in full Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound glory! Finally, this is one of the best, if not the BEST, soundtracks ever made and that should be reason enough for anyone to dish out $40~$60 for this masterpiece.
Free Music Review: FINALLY!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Yes, Finally! The whole soundtrack for The Fellowship of the Ring! I have been waiting for this for four years. Now the listening experience is complete, with the complete recordings. Howard Shore's score for this film was simply amazing. Without the music the movie would not have any life to it. The music itself tells the story right along with the visuals. However, you can separate the music from the visual and still understand what is going on. These "complete recordings" have every note heard in the Extended Edition of the first film of the trilogy. And it is amazing to hear what we all missed on the original release. Hearing all this new music, alone by itself, has confirmed my belief that Shore's score for these films are the best scores since the original Star Wars films! If you are a film music fan, or a Lord of the Rings fan then I REALLY recommend these "complete recordings."
Free Music Review: One of the Greatest Scores of all time gets proper treatment! Hit: 5 Stars
The original release of the soundtrack for the Fellowship of the Ring is one of the best soundtracks ever released. However at just over 70 minutes in length, fans of the movie were missing about 2/3's of Howard Shore's Oscar winning score. NOw Shore receives his due as the complete recording of the Fellowship of the Ring has now been released. Not simply from the theatrical release but from the extended release featuring every bit of HOward Shore's music as well as the songs that helped make the movie so popular. This set, all 3 cd's worth is the complete score to the movie. There is no music left unheard after listening to this fantastic collection. It was awesome and completely enjoyable for fans of Lord of the Rings, fans of movie scores, or fans of HOward Shore. I'm hoping that The Two Towers gets the same treatment. Excellent, superb and overwhelming in its' greatness.
Free Music Review: Essential purchase for all LOTR fans Hit: 5 Stars
This is a Must Have for all fans of the film and of Howard Shore's beautiful score. Some of the best bits which were left off the soundtrack cd can now be enjoyed over and over - Gandalf singing "The road goes ever on and on" as he rides into Hobbiton; the merry jig played at Bilbo's birthday party; the hauntingly lovely farewell to Lothlorien from the extended film version, plus more besides. To listen to the music is to relive those parts of the film; this is where Gandalf and Bilbo sat smoking their pipes, this is the part where Boromir made his opening speech at the Council of Elrond and the ROTK theme was first introduced. The film becomes alive in your mind as you listen to the music.
It's wonderful - beautifully presented and reasonably priced. If you're a LOTR fan and you don't buy it, you'll be kicking yourself forever.
Free Music Review: FINALLY the Complete Score Hit: 5 Stars
I just picked this up yesterday on the day of its release and after listening to it, I am thoroughly impressed. I'm glad to see the Lord of the Rings Trilogy receive the same treatment as Star Wars did in the mid-late '90's when they released the complete scores for the original movies. (I just wish they would release Episode II and III) This release really completes the story/movie. The quality and quantity is amazing, over 3 hours worth of music from start to finish, Howard Shore definetly poured his years of composing experience into this story and it shows. It's unbelieveable how much great music was left out from the earlier release.
Hopefully there isn't such a long wait between releases for The Two Towers and Return of the King.
This is welcome addition to anyones library of film scores.
