Free Music Notes for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (The Complete Recordings)Free Music Review: ...a han noston ned. Hit: 5 Stars
And so concludes my three reviews for these magnificent recordings. Again, the DVD will blow you away but unfortunately can't be played in one's car. But it will shake the house down.
This is a score that beats even Gone With the Wind, that greatest of film scores by Max Steiner. And even the Star Wars scores can't compare, for they are just a series of leitmotifs strung together, albeit thrillingly. In this score, the leitmotifs actually develope as the characters and story change. It is the film equivalent of Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen and almost as long. Shore even deliberately quotes Gotterdammerung in the closing notes.
If you have orcs living next door to you as I have, turn these scores up and show them light will prevail over darkness. They will cower before you and retreat into the mud from which they came.
Works everytime!
Free Music Review: A fan's perspective: Complete Recordings Hit: 5 Stars
This CD/DVD set is ideal for a fan such as myself. I have enjoyed the standard soundtracks for a long time now, and I bought this since the Return of the King has some of my favourite music. The complete soundtrack has parts that are otherwise unheard in the standard disc, and have some of my favourite parts - one of these being the 'Houses of Healing'. It is also fun to have the Hobbits' drinking song as seen in the extended edition film. More importantly the full elaboration of themes is heard, rather than just the highlights which cut from one part to another (with respect to the film).
It is great to study to, though I have found myself distracted at times by this epic soundtrack!
Having heard this I would love to buy the remaining two Complete Recordings, but I will have to save my pennies once more - buying these in New Zealand dollars is not cheap!
Free Music Review: The Best Complete Soundtrack!! Hit: 5 Stars
"The Return of the King" is the final conclusion of Gondor's Fate and in this score you will live exactly the same as Aragorn when he remembers Minis Terth as his homeland and capital of Men's Kingdom, Gondor.
With the Theme of "The King" (repeated in the whole 3 movies when it comes to talk about the kingdom that needs to be reclaimed by Isildur's heir) you will live Aragorn's Fate as sound mixes in your ears with songs like: "The Lightining of the Beacons" and "Journey to the Cross Roads".
Sauron's Eye Fall and Dernhelm Battle will rise images of the movie to your mind, Faramir's Sacrifice will move you to a weightlessness and oniric athmosphere, and the long tender end of Bilbo's voyage with the Elves will catch your dreams and translate them to the Middle Earth in your homeplace.
This is a Must Have in homes of all Soundtrack fans!!
Free Music Review: Worth it for me, just for a few beautiful songs. Hit: 5 Stars
I had to have this soundtrack specifically for "The Lighting of the Beacons," "The Houses of Healing," and the extended film's sequence beginning with "The Mouth of Sauron and ending with "The Crack of Doom" (*especially* "The Crack of Doom," so much more powerful than the theatrical version's soundtrack song "The End of All Things", which just hacks the emotion to bits, in my opinion). "Anduril" is also one of my favorites, but I was pretty happy with it even in the theatrical version soundtrack. It's a little bit different (not in a bad way) in the extended version.
Of course, the extended versions of the films are the "real" versions to me, so if you're a theatrical-version-only fan, the extended version soundtrack might not be for you.
Free Music Review: Wonderful Music!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought all three of the Lord of the Rings Complete Recordings and loaded them onto my iPod so I can listen to them while I go for my walks. I marked the titles LOTR A1-3 Fellowship of the Rings; LOTR B1-3 Two Towers; LOTR C1-4 Return of the King and made sure Howard Shore was the artist for all of the songs so I could listen to them in order. It is really fun to listen and think about what part in the movies that music goes with.
The quality of this music is superb, with a lot of feeling and variety that makes it great to really enjoy to its fullest. It sounds even better on a full stereo system! If you loved the movies, and if you love music, this is an excellent set to own.
