Free Music Notes for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (The Complete Recordings)Free Music Review: Marvelous Movie Music! A Great Score from Shore! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great ending to Howard Shore's movie trilogy of music from "The Lord of the Rings". This is one release which I really anticipated getting. I love everything on this four-disc set. "Mount Doom" and "Crack of Doom" will put you right back into the movie as will "The Battle of the Pellennor Fields." I have enjoyed reading the reviews here but must say I have a different point of view from the fan who said Liv Tyler's track is a bit weak. I found Liv's track, "The Houses of Healing" to be soothing and very moving. If you are on the fence, hop on over and buy this wonderful set. I don't believe you will regret it.
Free Music Review: Sensational sound Hit: 5 Stars
Howard Shore excels in his sound tracks for all three movies. Unlike so many movie sound tracks that interfere and are often just plain annoying, the music from LOTR carries the films along, complementing each scene. People who love the films can't help but love the complete recordings. The sound quality is superb and you can rerun the whole film in your head instead of just the usual excerpts. The accompanying booklet explaining the background to each piece is fascinating, if a little small in the print department. A magnifying glass might be a useful accessory if you wish to read the booklet fully.
Free Music Review: Beyond anything I could have hoped for! Hit: 5 Stars
Over the past few years, I've slowly picked up each of the Complete Recordings from Howard Shore for Lord of the Rings. The first time I saw the movie, I was drawn in by the story, the characters and before anything else, the music. Music is what makes a movie work. Without a talented composer, your movie can crumble. Howard Shore did a brilliant job with all three movies. I listen to this soundtrack and the other two constantly - usually as a good background noise while studying or doing other activities. All three Complete Recordings are well worth your money!
Free Music Review: Howard Shore is a genius Hit: 5 Stars
Howard Shore is, without a doubt, the most brilliant film score/neo-wagnerian composer of our time. The way Shore works with his motifs, each beautifully crafted and delicately textured, is nothing short of breathtaking. Although the Complete Recordings are a bit pricey, the trimmed down version of RotK does not do it justice, and also scrambles the order of the tracks. For the casual listener this will probably be enough of a taste of Shore's beautiful soundscapes, but any fan will have to shell out the extra cash for this masterpiece recording.
Free Music Review: Long Live the King Hit: 5 Stars
Ever since I heard that the Complete scores were going to be released I couldn't wait for the Return of the King. I fell in love with this movie ever since I saw it on the big screen and could never get it out of my head. Howard Shore is a genious and I don't know anyone else who could have done what he did with this music. All of my favorite music moments are on these cd's and I find myself listening to it over and over again. I place the cd's in my player and close my eyes and I can follow the movie cue by cue. Worth the money and worth the time.
