Free Music Review: Great CD!

I am not quite sure what the first reviewer was talking about. I think this is a great CD, very much in the vain of Paul Westerberg, ect. I was very surprised how good this CD was, I have the split CDs "Because We Hate You/Let the War Against Music Begin" and I was afraid it would not be as good, but it sure was. I would recommend this to anyone with an open mind for solid songwriting and an ear for good old-fashioned pop music.

The dark-hued Old Liquidator owes a debt to Big Star's Sister Lovers, which, group leader/former Young Fresh Fellow/sometime R.E.M. sideman Scott McCaughey professes is one of his all-time favorite albums. Like Alex Chilton's morose milestone, pretty pop tunes are cluttered with dissonant instrumentation. It's as if McCaughey prepared Baked Alaska for desert, then poured motor oil over the top. As with the Fellows, there are still a few yucks to be had, but grimmer sentiments linger over the proceedings like unpaid bills. --Steven StolderAlternative Rock Music CDs
