Free Music Notes for The Mission: Original Soundtrack From The Motion PictureFree Music Review: Hauntingly beautiful Hit: 5 Stars
Ennio Morricone achieves with The Mission what few composers ever achieve... a work of art as important and powerul as the film which it represents. The music and the film become inescapably entwined through the message and power of Roland Joffé's direction and this brilliant soundtrack. Some of my favorite trakcs include the main theme which shows up in "Falls", "The Mission", "River", and "Miserere." "Gabriel's Oboe" is presented twice on the soundtrack. Words often fail to describe the magnitude of emotion that can be elicited by these compositions. However I would agree with one other reviewer the the darker themes alternately detract from the soundtrack, but only slightly. This will remain one of the most solid and stunning original scores ever created for a long long time.
Free Music Review: A soundtrack befitting a great movie Hit: 5 Stars
As soundtracks go, this one is not as epic or dymanic as, say, that of Dances with Wolves or Children of Dune. What this soundtrack does boast is one of the most beautiful themes you will ever hear during your sojourn on this planet. Played on an oboe, daring in its simplicity, it is absolutely captivating. It expresses both sorrow and grandeur, and as such it nicely complements both the storyline as well as the breath-taking cinematography of the film. This is by far Ennio Morricone's most popular & memorable soundtrack - and for good reason!
Free Music Review: The MISSION soundtrack is nourishment for one's soul Hit: 5 Stars
I will never forget the day I heard a portion of The MISSION soundtrack the first time: I was a student at UCLA for the summer and happened to be touring various shops in Beverly Hills. A little nature store had it playing and I was just so moved by the beautiful, yet haunting melodies. I bought it on the spot, and have bought at least 6 copies since then and given as gifts. EVERYONE loves it!!! A friend says he's been waking up to "Gabriel's Oboe" every morning for 3 years and counting. It is truly music which transcends one's soul. I've never seen the movie, but the music has filled me with such emotion, time-and-time again. This is one soundtrack I'd recommend without reserve to everyone.
Free Music Review: The mission's thems composed by Morricone Hit: 5 Stars
Is a fact this themes are related with the movie, but in the other hand music by itself has the own light. the way that morricone take and mix south america indians prehispanic themes, gregorians chants and inovative and new music concepts, can give to the common people and very intimate feeling about the pain when two different cultures are mixed, in my personal opinion with this musical piece morricone does it a new proposition in this times about the importance to share the better of diferent cultures. no one culture is better, only different. The use of the strings and south american instruments is very impressive and the children voices maybe wold represent the future of this new culture. GOOD!
Free Music Review: Morricone's Best! Hit: 5 Stars
Ennio Morricone is without a doubt, one of the best composers of this era. He has written fantastic music, reminiscent of the masters of classical music, with a modern theme. The Mission is, in my opinion, the best of all his works. Gabriel's Oboe was something else and the the musical arrangements of all the other songs were superbly done. Although the movie was a good one, the music was much better than the movie itself. Ennio wrote other great scores like Cinemal Paradiso and the Love Affair, but, the Mission is still his best work ever. The only other great film scorer of our time is John Williams but the Mission soundtrack is better than any of Williams works. Buy this one!
