Free Music Notes for The Mission: Original Soundtrack From The Motion PictureFree Music Review: PERFECT...A MASTERPIECE BY ANY STANDARD Hit: 5 Stars
It is hard to image a more perfect score, and in my opinion, one which surely deserved an Oscar for Maestro Morricone.
This is glorious music in full technicolor. Most imaginative and creative, a perfect complement to the film's subject matter and time period--in fact, it elevates the beauty and importance of the film. Yet, it more than holds its own apart from the film viewing as a listening experience. And yes, one theme, Vita Nostra, was even used in a coffee commercial.
Majestic and often breathtaking. Belongs in every serious music collector/enjoyer's collection.
Free Music Review: Best Soundtrack of All Time Hit: 5 Stars
It's been over 15 years since I first heard the music from The Mission, and I'm still waiting for another soundtrack to come even close to its beauty. The music reflects every emotion of the movie: from rage, fear, and revenge, to redemption and relaxation. (But even if you haven't seen the film, you can enjoy every song on the soundtrack.) Songs such as "Falls" and "Gabriel's Oboe" will astound you. You've heard some of this music before: in trailers to other movies, and in commericals. I think it's a travesty that Ennio Morricone's score did NOT win the Academy Award.
Free Music Review: A+ BEST SOUNDTRACK EVER - I saw God Hit: 5 Stars
While there are a lot of unlisten-able suspense tracks in the latter half of the CD, the first 12 or so tracks (and the last one) are so good I could not stop listening to it. If you've seen the movie you'll realize that, as with _The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly_, the soundtrack is the real masterpiece. I cannot recommend this enough, my life would have incomplete if I'd never heard this piece of pure genius. Trying to describe why I like this is like trying to describe why I like music. If I had to describe it, I'd describe it as "classical" in every sense of the word.
Free Music Review: Must Buy Now Hit: 5 Stars
Everyone in the world must own this CD. It has like some of THE BEST music that will ever exist on it. Ennio Morricone is an absolute genius and it's his score to this movie that inspired Hans Zimmer to be a film composer. Tracks like Falls, Vita Nostra and Remorse will make your life complete. It for reasons like this that music exists.
You must get this CD, it will take you to another world, it'll make you sad, it'll make you happy. It's joyous, it's morose. It's an immortal part of history. The Mission can me matched, but it will never be bettered.
Free Music Review: Hauntingly beautiful Hit: 5 Stars
I have owned this cd for many years and I can't count the number of times I have played it just to relive the "goosebumps" it gives me every time. This really is Morricone's masterpiece and it elevates the movie in my mind, which is what a soundtrack should do. The theme is replayed several times on the disc by different instruments and choral groups. It all captures the images on screen very accurately. I would say this is one of my favorite movie soundtracks of all time. Check it out, or at least watch the movie and see what you think.
