I was at the Australian Labor parties platform launch when I last herd this haunting music. The theme of Gabriels Oboe filled the auditorium, and though all around were boystrous, I shed a tear. Only I and Kim Beazley, the Labor leader, knew that the election was lost. This piece of music reaches into your soul and pulls at your heartstrings. It's classical, almost barouque melody fills your soul with both joy and pain. Every time I hear it, I can't help but remeber the sad eyes of the once great leader Kim Beasley.Free Music Review: Music which makes the world stand still

I hold no other soundtrack in higher esteem than this one. One year I bought ten copies to give as Christmas presents (a perfect Christmas gift) for friends and family. Every track moves me. Every track comes back to my memory as the preceeding track ends. It flows naturally and perfectly from track to track. Ennio Morricone ranks next to Bernard Herrmann in writing the perfect movie score. Yes, I bought a used copy at CD Warehouse, and after hearing it, was regretting not having risked the other 5-6 dollars it would have cost me to buy a non-used one. What a wonderful & lovely score; I become more of a fan of Morricone with each score I hear- he's a true master of the genre. Has brilliant orchestrational skills and a canning knack for beautiful melodies. A world class effort, and one of the best scores I've heard ever. When I first brought this soundtrack I didn't expect much from it, but when I gave it a listen I was shocked to find so much beautiful and emotional music. This was a nice departure for Ennio Morricone from his usual Spagetti(sp?) Westerns and so on. Some of the tracks are a little repiticious but the two Mission "themes": Falls, and Gabriels Oboe are beautiful as well as the choral music that stylishly weaves it's way through the score.
