Free Music Notes for The Mission: Original Soundtrack From The Motion PictureFree Music Review: Simply Divine Hit: 5 Stars
Its hard to put into words what Morricone accomplished on this soundtrack. He simply touched the divine. This is a master of his craft in top form. He manages to capture the essence of what the film was about in such a way that it transcends the film entirely.
This is one of those rare cases where the score elevates and propels the script of a film to heights unaccessable by the film alone.
A true masterpiece.
Free Music Review: Breathtakingly beautiful! Hit: 5 Stars
I have loved Ennio Morricone's music since I saw 'The Red Tent' way back when. On 'The 'Mission', tracks 1,2,3,5,8,11,13 are just the most moving pieces I have heard. Amazing, simply amazing. If you buy and like this one, be sure to get 'Love Affair's soundtrack (the one with Warren Beatty and Anette Bening). Tracks 5 - 14 are just as moving. I am constantly in awe of the melodies Morricone creates....Enjoy!
Free Music Review: In these pieces, redemption. Hit: 5 Stars
A couple of times since I bought this album, during some of the darkest moments of my life, I have shut my door, opened my window, knelt on the cold hard floor, and gazed skyward as I listened to several tracks, notably On Earth as It Is in Heaven, Falls, Climb, Gabriel's Oboe, and Miserere. This simple, private act of utter surrender has never failed to bring me back hope, and grace, and strength, and faith.
Free Music Review: Three powerful themes Hit: 5 Stars
Three powerful themes shape this incredible soundtrack to the DeNiro/Irons flick, The Mission. This soundtrack is a change of pace from the spaghetti westerns for which Ennio Morricone is famous. The themes featured in Falls, Gabriel's Oboe, and River can keep a listener transfixed for hours.Listeners should quickly recognize the bouncy choral passage featured in River from Delta airlines commercials.
Free Music Review: Stirs the soul Hit: 5 Stars
Whenever I listen to this soundtrack, I find myself almost in another world. This music has the ability to transport you to another almost mystical place. It is truly a masterpiece. At points, it is haunting. At other points it is uplifting. And still at other points, it has the ability to evoke both joy and sorrow with the same notes. You can not go wrong by purchasing this soundtrack.
