Okay, so these guys make some demos in thier basement, What's the big deal? Me & the guys made some demos in my basement. Parker Ford & The Unacceptables was the name of our combo. We had a great line-up: Light D on vocals & casiotone, Frayser on 5 string Guitar, Gene on Tuba (hey! don't knock it, that cat could PLAY), Heavy D Rosenblatt on human beat box, and me Back-up vocal & Congas. I also got to be the "Cool" guy in the band, much like Robin Zander in Cheap Trick. Anyway there we was in Light D's basement laying down some original S*** for our forthcoming Album "The Unacceptable Beat", gearing up for our first gig under the Vandeventer Overpass (we had to change the venue cause Gene's mom refused to let us use the back yard after what happend to the dog),when D says, Hey, listen to this Modern Lovers song, that's kind of the sound I want to get. Anyway we listened to the whole album, and then had to go get Doritos & Big Gulps.
Our album project got shelved, while members of The Modern Lovers went on to be in other bands like Television, The Cars, and Talking Heads, and Jonathan even got to star in a movie with Cameron Diaz.
Meanwhile, I have managed to make it to night manager at Krystal, Light D worked with Sheryl Crow, Gene is a compliance officer for the State Hospital Insurance Taskpanel, Heavy D was a Kosher Konsultant on the movie "Hebrew Hammer", and Frayser.....well he IS better now that the statute of limitations has expired.
