Free Music Notes for Keys of the Kingdom

Free Music Review: SATISFIED
Hit: 5 Stars

I was very pleased to be able to purchase this CD as earlier enquiries had led to being advised of it being deleted.

I shall continue to use Amazon to buy in CD's as the prices are reasonable although the cost of post/packaging is disappointing.

Free Music Review: Keys is Divinely Inspired
Hit: 5 Stars

The Moody Blues were certainly inspired to create a pathway to a higher consciousness with Keys of the Kingdom. My brother-in-law gave me this CD after my spouse died and it literally carried me through the lowest spots in the grief cycles. I'm no genius but I would recommend this CD with it's positive messages and vibrant rhythyms to anyone. Bravo Moody Blues!

Free Music Review: Quite a good and interesting album
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a very enjoyable album, one to listen to end-to-end. I especially like the rumbling LOW bass in Bless The Wings. Really gets the subwoofer working. If you don't have one, you might want to get a subwoofer just to hear this one through it. Celtic Sonant is quite good and Never Blame The Rainbows For The Rain is a reflective piece that is wonderfully sweet and melancholy at the same time. Justin H. and Co. continue to impress!

Free Music Review: Buy it for one track only
Hit: 3 Stars

I grew up listening to the Moody Blues - they formed a large part of the soundscape of my childhood, adolescence and adult life. Their early works were experimental until they developed a very structured commercial sound. Like a lot of recording artists, they started off shakily, matured into a highly respected ensemble with many solid albums to their credit, then started the downhill slide.

Keys of the Kingdom is not a highlight of the Moody Blues' career, however, if for no other reason, I would strongly recommend it be purchased on the strength of one song alone: 'Bless the wings (that bring you back)'. It is an excellent Justin Hayward song, extended and beautifully underscored by the string arrangement by Anne Dudley. Sadly, when Universal issued the double CD set 'GOLD' in 2005, they included a truncated single version of this song, thus depriving us of an updated remaster of the full song - a great pity.

Free Music Review: Moodies at most melodic
Hit: 4 Stars

"Keys of the Kingdom" is probably the most overlooked album created by the Moody Blues. I own the cassette of it & was thoroughly pleased with every aspect of it. On the cd version; another track is added....."Once is Enough". As a devout Moodies fan since the late 60's; it disturbed me that this cut was added because it's absolute garbage & destroys the continuity of the album. Without that song; I'd have rated the album a solid 5 of 5. The Moodies are still my favorite all-time group, but this cd suffers from the afterthoughts of someone in the marketing department. However; don't let that keep you from adding some wonderful songs to your Moody collection with "Keys of the Kingdom". Buy it....it's money well spent.
