This was a gift and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't pretend to be very knowledgeable about classical music. I had bought a Wagner album and did not like it at all. But I knew that there were some of the slower, relaxing, sensitive pieces by other composers that I loved. I especially love instrumental music, and this 2-CD album features so much variety of instruments, using violin, guitar, cello, oboe, flute, piano, clarinet and harp. Out of the 36 songs on this set, there are only 5 where there is singing. But they are "classics" too, and are the soaring, beautiful ones that are featured in some movies. The song "Meditation" by Jules Massenet from Thais is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. It brings up some some real and deep emotions in me, as do many of the others. I also loved the quitar rendition of Concierto de Aranjuez, by Joaquin Rodrigo. I have so many favorites it is hard to list them. I could say much more about this soothing, relaxing album, but take my word for it, you will be pleased. I think this one could be a good one in the car to ease any "road rage" that one might feel.Free Music Review: a huge collection of great music

Difficult as it is to cull the classics and compose a two CD collection that promises to relax, but this one does just that!Starting with Bach's Air on the G string and continuing strong throughout, this set highlights the melodies that we all thrill to hear and hum then continually.
The order this is structured is excellent. Never two of the same together, but flows in harmonious manner.
Introduces me to some new works as well, e.g. Delibes "Flower Duet" and Gorecki's Symphony. These do help us fledging new classical enthusiasts.

Wow! I really love this CD. It features some of the most beautiful, relaxing pieces ever recorded, from "Sleepers Awake!" to "Flower Duet", I like every song. (my personal favorite is "Claire de Lune") I highly recommend this album to anyone in need of some time for themselves, a nice rest, or who just loves soft classical music. I first heard this CD while getting a massage. The masseuse was playing this CD as background music. I am purchasing this not only for me to listen to but for my baby to listen to as he falls asleep.
