When it comes to collecting and experiencing true rock and roll, it's a very rare situation that leads me to be interested in a "revival" or "tribute" type band or movement. To me 60s garage for the most part cannot be topped by the original purveyors and there are ample reissues and comps of this music that usually more than satisfy me.
However, when it comes to the case of The Mummies, all that goes out the window for me. Honestly, it took 15 years after the fact their demise for me to discover this killer band, thanks to their approach and motto - "the kings of low budget rock". By having this singular vision (in equipment and song choice), reaching its peak with this album, it brings them closer in my mind than any other modern era band to giving me the type of rush I always get from listening to anything that flat out rocks that was recorded between 1964-66.
Every song on this album pounds on it own, and put together makes it what has to be my favorite album purchase over the last two years. If you made this far within Amazon and are still wondering if this is worth picking up - don't - IT IS!
