Free Music Notes for The Music of Star Wars: 30th Anniversary Collection

Free Music Review: Lp Vinyls still better sound.
Hit: 2 Stars

I share the same disappointment with other reviewers about this release, as it has nothing new than previous editions except (which I really like) the old original album artwork picture release. But personally, mostly I do enjoy one music arrangement of Star Wars, which is the old first 1977, and 1980 release, I feel they are truly musical arrangements and have ability to draw the listener to another and magination world, which was in fact Mr. George Lucas invention and intention I believe. While most reviewers here talking about CD remaster value and importance, the fact is the more remaster process is used the more the sound become ultra sharp from compressed source which shows its limitation, in CD world no matter what you do still the sound have serious problem and not satisfying, like the missing or weakening far echoes and small notes and air, less depth and narrow, pure artificial and moving forward too fast, sometimes the punch comes too hard and the sound in general is too edgy, mostly from three main reasons, transfer from analog to digital and back forth, digital compression which eliminates some information's, and CD player noise which effect other units, if you want to listen perfectly from CD player try placing the unit far from any other units at least one feet.

But with all honesty, since the Digital launched, I never enjoyed listening to Star Wars music again as before and it became easy forgettable and less interests, I couldn't know the reason at that time but I felt the sound is artificial and lacking ability to draw serious attention, if you really want to listen perfect sound of Star Wars music, analog source or LP vinyl is best way and if you do have tape cassettes keep them as well they are wonderful, only Analog have ability to reveal a true professional sound: rich, natural, extremely sweet and smooth, depth, full dimension, relaxed and easy professional pace, natural sharpness, rich low frequency, correct balance between high and low frequency and much attractive. Analog sound does not concentrate only in clarity and definitions of instruments recording but the sound itself is unique and tempting. I have compared the sound between remaster CD with old LP and here are the differents: the remaster CD has more details, clear instruments recording, very clear from top to bottom. Problems are: pure artificial, unbalanced, no depth and less dimensions, very commercial level, sound itself in general very strange not attractive nor satisfying and more toward funny unrealistic cannot draw serious attention. One major notable and remark point in CD is the sound appeared moving too fast much forwarding and the music track finished without having enjoy listening completely, contrary to analog were every minutes appeared moving in slow pace Professionally and ability to enjoy every bit of it, and the track finish with fully realizations what has been composed. It is the first time after long time I could enjoy the magination and magnificent composing score as the way Mr. Lucas intended with Mr. John Williams, I couldn't find any digital source have ability to bring same level of professional as analog in fact but rather in commercial levels only (sadly). I was very surprised when I learned many stores are selling back vinyl's and many peoples are returning back as well to LPs. As for remastering, in LPs you will forget it so easily, simply because the sound containing full dimension and natural having none of complicity of digital. Also the idea of watching a source simply moving in motion in front of eyes like tape recorder or records is correct way, it does reveal natural life experience, unlike small hard disk artificially playing.

So my highly demands to Mr. Lucas and Mr. John Williams is to release Star Wars trilogy again in new pressed vinyl's with 180 grams and probably with Mobile Fidelity Lab which there pressing is truly wonderful and fantastic and make the music arrangements as before or better, also Star Wars music from other artists like Charles Gerhardt which is my favorites and also MECO. I really don't know why they didn't make it before but I think at this level these editions are perfectly attractive and worthy. I hope other reviewers agree with me and add comments.
