Free Music Notes for Boxer

Free Music Review: You Won't Regret This
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the best album I've heard in a while. I picked this one up upon the recommendation of a friend, having never heard anything of this band previously; since then I've been listening to Boxer straight though at least once every day. I simply cannot get these songs out of my head--especially "Fake Empire" and "Mistaken for Strangers." There honestly isn't one throwaway track on this album. With Amazon's low low price, you really have nothing to lose, so please, stop reading and buy this CD!

Free Music Review: original and timeless
Hit: 5 Stars

This is easily one of the strongest indie albums of 2007. The lyrics are subtle and thought provoking. Singer Matt Berninger's deep baritone sounds like one more perfectly played instrument in the band. His voice and the rest of the band are beautifully unique. Their music is oddly beautiful - never odd simply for the sake of being odd.

Free Music Review: Unmagnificent
Hit: 2 Stars

Lazy baritone with all the soulfulness of a public address announcer mumbles inaudibly through 12 songs which share roughly the same inoffensive melody while band gamely tries to create dark, urgent atmosphere. The album is politely soporific, an effect magnified by a muddy recording. Boxer is easy to forget, and I plan to do so.

Free Music Review: Boxer continues The National epic
Hit: 4 Stars

This is an excellent record from the Cincy band. The echoed voice of lead singer, Matt Berninger lingers in your head long after the songs are over. I highly recommend this CD.

Free Music Review: If you liked Alligator, you will love Boxer
Hit: 5 Stars

This was my favorite album of 2007 and made it to the top of my "Best Albums of 2007" list ([...])

I saw them in concert because I liked their album and their last one, Alligator, was amaaaaaazing. They are my favorite band of the moment and I just can't seem to get enough of them. Oh, and be sure to buy the B-sides to the singles from this album as they're top-notch as well. "Apartment Story" off of Boxer is my favorite song of the year.
