Free Music Notes for Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers

Free Music Review: bought Sad Songs...after to listening to "alligator" 1,000 times.
Hit: 5 Stars

If you have listened to "Sad songs..." once it may not click, but it'll whet your music curiousity. I have to say it, although cliche, it is The National's "The Wall". Pieced toghether song by song with a purpose. One of my best listening experiences ever was playing "sad songs..." and "Cherry Tree" at high volume in my living room with a nice glass of Sapphire and ice.
I laughed, I cried, and caught a good buzz...
You should buy this album if you like true musical talent and thoughtful, intellegent lyrics. This album reverberates on another level.
Buy this album, or Cherry Tree, or Alligator, love it, then go see them live.

Free Music Review: these guys are so good
Hit: 5 Stars

Anyone who has discovered The National recently via High Velvet, I can let you know that all the others are as good. This is, I believe, their second album. My favorite song here is the last one, "Lucky You"--sweet, moving. I also like "Murder me Rachel" and "Available"--the 2 genuine rocking songs on the album. There is not one throwaway song, though--they are all very listenable. Lyrics throughout are really great--and I am definitely not a lyrics person. So if you like High Velvet, this will defitely not disappoint.

Free Music Review: My absolute FAVORITE album by The National!
Hit: 5 Stars

I love everyone of The National's albums, however, Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers takes the cake in my book! It is a comprehensive masterpiece of emotional expression! Filled with doubt, regret, pain, suffering, and realization, enlightenment, understanding, and acceptance!!! Poetic, invigorating, C'EST MAGNIFIQUE! I highly recommend this album. And if you're listening to The National for the first time...listen to this one! Boxer is fantastic, and critically acclaimed. But, Sad Songs.. is AMAZING!

Free Music Review: Terrible beauty
Hit: 5 Stars

God! I love this album.

I happened upon The National's "Boxer" through an "If you liked this (Tindersticks) you will like this" and I did. I dug Boxer, though I grew weary of it (except for a couple of tracks) rather quickly. Then I bought this. Constant rotation, slow burn, gorgeous, deep...I will not weary of this album. It has a perfect gritty heart.

Free Music Review: Tough, Tender, World-Weary Rock-Pop-Alt
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this because of a blurb on the cover of the CD. Just an impulse buy. Boy, was I glad I did. While being totally their own animal, The National combine some of the best elements of the Tindersticks with a less laid-back sound and traces of Nick Cave and others. Songs like "Slipping Husband," with its frequent mood changes, are brilliant
