I stumbled on this and liked it immediately. I've gone back and listened to their earlier efforts and I don't care for them. I can understand why fans of their earlier works will find this a bit slow, but it strikes me as reflecting a maturation of their talents.
I suspect that this will widen their audience.

I had never heard the new pornographers before this album... a friend brought it along for a road trip... and I am hooked! The sound is simple, so it takes some time to grow on you... but before you know it you could listen all day!
If you like indy pop... you will love this bands cleaver lyrics and catchy tunes!

This album showcases Neko Case's vocal talent, and it's got all the pluck I've come to expect from the New Pornographers. That said, Twin Cinemas was a lot more rockin' and less contemplative. Free Music Review: Great album

I purchased this because I'm a huge Neko Case fan. After seeing these guys perform at the Showbox in Seattle, I knew I'd like this album. Neko's voice shines through on a number of songs, and the whole album is great.
