Free Music Notes for The Notebook

Free Music Review: Based on a True Story ... Read and Weep
Hit: 5 Stars

This is based on a true story of the author's wife's grandparents who were the real-life inspirations for Noah and Allie. As 17 year olds, Noah and Allie spend an entire summer joined at the hip before she goes off to college and his future dubious. Allie is the debutant whose parents are rich southern folk and Noah works at the coal mine. Towards the end of their teenage affair, Allie's parents separate them and 14 years go by. Noah goes off to fight in WW2 while Allie eventually becomes engaged to marry a rich heir named Lon who is very dashing and socially acceptable. As fate would have it Allie sees an article of Noah in the paper just after she selects her wedding dress. Driven by her youthful memories ... Allie reconnects with Noah and true love blossoms again ... given that it never really died. This is one of all those romantics at heart who don't event want to admit it.

Free Music Review: Pays music a complement. I love the classical pieces!
Hit: 5 Stars

I do not have the soundtrack to The Notebook, but I do have the movie itself. Having said that, every song is wonderful. Some music carries with it, a wealth of emotion and a sense of timelessness. I love all of the classical pieces , perhaps the best, in this particular movie. Classical has never been my speed when it comes down to music, but something about this movie's classical masterpieces struck a chord in me...made me smile and maybe even sniffle a bit. If you are a fan of the movie, I'm sure you would love its soundtrack too. Music like this is ideal for a romantic evening or just for pleasure listening. You don't know if you'll like something until you give it a chance! So give this a chance!!

Free Music Review: To sit through and enjoy... in silence.
Hit: 5 Stars

I loved "The Notebook" and one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much is because of how much it reminded me of "Bridges of Madison County". Besides some elements of the story and the great acting, there is a powerful element in the movie that reminded me of the great film with Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep: the music. The seven songs magically scored by Aaron Zigman for this movie are just perfect in themselves and perfect for the movie, the type of piano and string tracks that evoke melancholy without having to watch a sad movie. I must say I silently cry to some of these songs. I can skip the most of the big band and jazz themes, but Zigman's tracks I sit through and enjoy.

Free Music Review: beautiful!
Hit: 5 Stars

The soundtrack perfectly captures the time peroid of the movie (1940s). The instrumental parts are amazing; so are the songs by Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller & His Orchestra, Benny Goodman & His Orchestra, Rex Stewart & The Ellingtonians, and Jimmy Durante. My personal favorites are Glenn Miller's "A String of Pearls" and Billie Holiday's "I'll be Seeing You".

The soundtrack is enjoyable even if you haven't seen the movie (of course, if you have you'll love it even more!) If you're a fan of big band or the 40s in general, you'll love this soundtrack! I have no complaints!

Free Music Review: The music
Hit: 5 Stars

I absolutely loved The Notebook, I watched it last night. It's the most beautiful love story I've seen since Moulin Rouge.

I've seen a lot of people respond to the name of the piece that Allie plays on the piano, and they've all said it's Prelude in E minor by Chopin. That's correct, but for those who are not as familiar with classical music it will be a little easier to find, knowing that the entire title is "Prelude no. 4 in E Minor" by Chopin on his album, "Rubinstein - 24 Preludes / Piano Sonata No. 2 / Impromptu No. 3"

Hope that helps!
