If you grew up in the 1970s or 1980s, or you know anything about pop culture, the theme from the Odd Couple is universal. Sing the first few notes, and everyone knows what you mean.
But that is only a sliver of the musical story. Neal Hefti, best known for the Batman theme, composed this soundtrack. It does have a great, Manciniesqe vocal version of the theme, and some swinging bacholor jazz. Full of vibraphones and electric harpsochord: all the 60s cinamatic flurishes you would expect.
The album interspurses funny dialouge from the movie between track. The bits are great, but interupt the flow of Hefti's score. It would have been better to have all the music and then all the dialouge.
Still, worth collecting. Might give a DJ some great sample sounds.
