Free Music Notes for The Phantom of the Opera (2004 Movie Soundtrack)Free Music Review: Great Hit: 5 Stars
The first thing I want to say is that it is a great movie/play. Ive been sing the songs of the phantom since I was a young girl and Im happy to be singing them with an even large crowd now that the movie is out. Secondly I think it is important that we separate the movie from the play. It would be impossible for Directors/writers to recast the actors from the play b/c they are very old. I think that the movie was perfectly casted and all of the actors did a superb job playng thier roles. I think that they did an excellent job and youthanizing this classic store of love and intrigue. The phantom has a raspy voice that gives him a hard edge that younger audiances will enjoy. Christine and raoul pretty much preserve the original characters and they do a very good job at that. when it comes to Colata ppl should stop bashing minnie driver for not singing. She did a really good job at playing a stuck up prima donna and is actually quite funny. So to conclude this review I think it was an excellent movie with an excellent soundtrack. I would strongly suggest getting the cd if you liked the movie
Favorite songs- "wishing you were some how here again" and "think of me"

Free Music Review: Bravo!! Hit: 5 Stars
To all of you who have not seen the movie in the "select" cities in which it is now playing, I have one bit of advice.. BUY TICKETS FOR OPENING NIGHT IN YOUR CITY! Not only was the acting amazing in this movie (yes, Minnie Driver was PERFECT), the music injected youth and energy into this classic production. "Christine" appeared just as she should have, naive and innocent, a fresh beauty torn between the two loves of her life. "Phantom" was not only a wonderful singer (personally I like him better than Crawford, and I had his soundtrack memorized by day 2 of listening to it!), he was very inviting in a very dark, sexy way. No wonder Christine was conflicted! And as for Raoul.. Patrick Wilson was not only hot, but expressed every pain a true lover would. One more note on Gerald Butler's voice... some people may say he doesn't have the range that Michael Crawford had, but I can tell you that I could feel his despair and suffering in every bone in my body. I am definitely purchasing this movie, as well as the soundtrack, so if you ever see a brunette blaring opera from her car and crying behind the wheel, just wave. It's me.
Free Music Review: It Just Doesn't Get Any Better Than This! Hit: 5 Stars
I found this movie to be nothing short of spellbinding. Gerard Butler is incredible in the part of the Phantom, strong, virile, and the very definition of "male". His voice is perfect for this role, raw and full of rage, hauntingly sad or seductive, or filled with love. I was completely blown away by his performance.
Emmy Rossumm is the quintessential Christine, a young ballet dancer and singer, drawn to the Phantom, and also to Raoul, played by Patrick Wilson. She is a perfect feminine counterpart to Butler; her voice is extraordinary. The fact that she was 17 when this movie was made amazes me. What an remarkable gift! So she misses a few notes; her character is supposed to be a "student" of music, learning, not perfect.
Wilson is excellent as Raoul, his voice is beautiful, and the three form the perfect triangle. Their voices, whether it's Butler and Rossum, Wilson and Rossum, or all three, are incredible together.
If you enjoyed the movie, get the soundtrack. I will probably also get the double-disc version also, but this one is an excellent buy. Worth every penny and more!
