Free Music Notes for The Polar Express

Free Music Review: Magical!
Hit: 5 Stars

The movie was wonderful and the soundtrack is one of the reasons. I am hoping the composer gets his due recognition when Oscar time comes around.

The original music is great. They also add the background songs that you hear in the movie when the Express reaches the North Pole. These are old classics sung by Bing, The Andrews sisters, Perry Como and others.

"Believe", sung by Josh Groben is amazing. I couldn't believe that people were walking out at the end of the movie as Josh sang this song. My family was the only ones who kept thier seats and we were in a packed theatre. Who can walk out on Josh?

I would make one change in the soundtrack. I wish they had put the final song, "Suite from The Polar Express", at the end of the rest of the original music. It is kind of out of place at the end of the classic holiday music on the CD.

As wonderful as the movie and soundtrack are, I have one comment to make. The movie makes it sound like believing is the most important thing. What matters, in my opinion, is what you believe in. Faith has to have a reason. My faith is based on a person: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It does matter what train you get on. The final destination depends on it. I do agree with the movie on this point: life is not a destination, it is a journey. We are all waiting to arrive, when we should just be making the best of the journey.

This movie and soundtrack are sure to become a family classic for us. We are looking forward to owning the DVD next year.

Free Music Review: "Silvestri & Groban shine ~ Holidays through a childs eyes"
Hit: 5 Stars

Warner Bros. presents "Polar Express", just in time for the yuletide season...with new songs and Holiday classics ~ soundtrack music composed by Alan Silvestri with lyrics by Glen Ballard...featuring Josh Groban, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Matthew Hall, Meagan Moore and Tom Hanks performing clear and precise innovative tunes that will appeal to the child in all of us ~ what Holiday album would be complete without Bing Crosby, Perry Como, The Andrew Sisters, Kate Smith and Frank Sinatra...we keep them in our hearts, always!

Many of the stand outs are "SPIRITS OF THE SEASON", "SEEING IS BELIEVING" and "SUITE FROM THE POLAR EXPRESS", all three cues are similar to "Home Alone" the John Williams score, but enjoyable just the same...Silvestri has captured the essence of Christmas time and the innocence of children within the story line of the film.

The highlight is "BELIEVE", performed by Josh Groban of Reprise Records and orchestrated by William Ross...composers Silvestri and Ballard should feel themselves very fortunate to have this young talent put his signature on this one...when the Holidays finally arrive we will have heard this many times and love every moment of it!

Free Music Review: "If You Just Believe"
Hit: 5 Stars

With 14 tracks that are just as magical as the film (and the picture book by Chris Van Allsburg from which it was inspired,) "The Polar Express" is a must have soundtrack for the holidays!

Tom Hanks himself performs two of the films fun scores with back up choirs of children and adults, "When Christmas Comes to Town" sung by two of the film's main characters, is a very sweet song. There's a "rockin'" song from Steven Tyler and "Believe" (the movie's theme) performed by Josh Groban is an absolutely beautiful song with a simple, heartwarming message. Josh Groban's voice is perfect for this song; very pure and soothing. The instrumentals by Alan Silvestri are just as amazing-- "Suite from the Polar Express" is fantastic!

What I love most about this c.d. is the variety of Christmas music included. Classic Christmas songs from timeless artists including Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra make this album all the more worth purchasing. This is one Christmas album that has something for kids from 1 to 92. Not only will you have fun singing along to familiar holiday tunes, but you will also be inspired by new songs and instrumentals, and most definitely full of Christmas spirit!

Free Music Review: Nice little something extra for a Merry Christmas
Hit: 5 Stars

I went and saw this movie by myself. Oh, well, animation.
Since I didn't know the story by heart, the whole plot was a nice surprise. The music actually caught my attention the most.

Let's just forget Tom Hanks voice for a second, the excellent quality of song selection makes this movie and soundtrack perfect. It began with the Train Whistle which is so real that got my puppy searching all over the place for the train toy, Josh Groban's nice little piece of Believe which again plays into his talent fully, and some classic Christmas songs that I believe were digitally remastered / remixed.

You can just sit next to the fire place in a sonwy winter night with a cup of hot coca / coffee / tea in your hands and listen in. Let me tell you this, that's heaven on earth, the peace.

Music needs to be felt by heart, this soundtrack will touch your heart.

Free Music Review: "A bright shining star in the Christmas music universe!"
Hit: 5 Stars

I am one of those people who particularly like Christmas music, especially traditional Christmas songs. Every year around this time, I end up buying 2-3 Christmas music CDs. The ones I like I keep, and the ones that I don't like I end up selling on eBay! This is most definitely a CD worth keeping! Most of the songs on this are excellent, particularly Josh Groban's "Believe", the "Suite from the Polar Express" (the film's musical score by Alan Silvestri is just awe-inspiring and gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it!) and the older tunes (Sinatra, Bing, The Andrews Sisters, Perry Como, etc.) selected for this soundtrack strike all the right chords. The combination of the classic and the new really work well together. Overall, this is just an outstanding Christmas compilation with a lot of joyful appeal. This will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit, whether you are young or just young-at-heart!
