Free Music Notes for The Powerpuff Girls: Heroes and Villains

Free Music Review: Makin' a better day through the power of music!
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is just incredible! The genre style is dream pop-indie. Songs like "Bubbles" by Dressy Bessy, "Don't Look Down" by The Sugarplastic, and "Signal in the Sky (Let's Go!)" by The Apples in Stereo, will wake you up with it's healing power if you're down, as well as float you away to the clouds if you're tense. Either way, the majority of songs here are powerful and plain irresistable. This is also stuff you'd really want your kids to listen to.

It has credibility whether you really are a kid with a sweet tooth for infectious music or an alienated teen like I was when I fell in love with this record. "Fight the Power" by Bis and "The Fight" by Cornelius are highly danceable and fully forced pop and techno, "B.L.O.S.S.O.M." by Komeda and "Pray for the Girls" by Frank Black are two more choice tracks which both give a kick and are very thoughtful or a little brooding. And finally "Friends Win" by Bill Doss has an interesting 80's sound to it that reminds me of Human League and/or Haircut 100.

I didn't care for "Walk & Chew Gum" by Optiganally Yours or "Go Monkey Go!" by Devo, but they're good songs.

Free Music Review: Powerpuff Girls = Independent Pop Music
Hit: 5 Stars

One thing I wasn't expecting when I first saw this CD was coming out was a great collection of overlooked indie pop stars. I was expecting fare along the lines of the new "pop" music that's out. Boy was I PLEASANTLY surprised. There is no greater fun then listening to songs put out by people I've adored for years and hoped one day would get recognition. Apples in Stereo put out yet another pop work to rival their own CDs, and it just continues from there with Dressy Bessy, Bis, The Bill Doss and Komeda. The only song I wasn't very fond of was the Devo song. I guess my love for them has dwindled over the years. And keep listening at the end for one of the greatest tracks on the CD.

I think people will be pleasantly surprised by the great mix, especially parents who may just be a little too tired of hearing boy bands and girls who like to show their bellies.

Free Music Review: Go Monkey Go!
Hit: 5 Stars

Shonen Knife, Devo, Frank Black, Bis...an great assembly of Power Pop/Punk bands doing what they do best, with a Powerpuff Girls twist. Even if I didn't like the Powerpuff Girls, I would want this CD. An all-star cast of hits, someone involved with this show cleary knows their tunes.

Every song has a "wake you up in the morning, feeling supercharged" type of energy. They all work well together in tone and theme, without a loser song in the lot. The type of CD that makes you bop around the room dancing, even if just doing the dishes.

In addition to this, there is a little Powerpuff Girls storyline going along with the CD, with each song focusing on a different aspect of the story. All the gang is here, even....Mojo Jojo! The whole package is excellent, with the same kind of quality one has come to expect.

Fans of the show and fans of good upbeat punk will like this CD.

Free Music Review: Bubblegum kinda keeps my heart from getting heavy and crying
Hit: 5 Stars

This is an absolutely essential album for people who love great indie music. Even if you aren't an avid Powerpuff Girls Fan (Which I am ) You can't help but get caught up in the energy of this album. It has a great variety of songs by bands that are all very different, but very talented. Each track has its individual charm and you just never get bored with the CD. Plus, it is the perfect music to listen to when your feeling sad because it is physically impossible not to smile at any of the upbeat songs. Oh, and there is a really hilarious secret track.... Ummm.... also if you like this CD, I suggest you get the video of the "Bubble's is Hardcore" episode, its is the funniest episode. To finish off, um... this is an all age friendly album, complete with the hyperbolic charm that the show exudes.

Free Music Review: Truly a "sonic Powerpuff adventure"!
Hit: 5 Stars

That is how Craig McCracken describes this CD in the liner notes, and that is exactly what you get. Through their songs the bands capture the essence of the show in sound. I am a fan of the show because it is colorful, cute, violent, and fast-moving. So is the music on the CD, as the songs tell the story of a typical episode. I had only heard of two of the bands on this CD before I started watching the show, so I really didn't know what to expect when I first played the disc. Well, I am pleasantly surprised! This is fun to listen to! I want to hear more! So, if you are a fan of The Powerpuff Girls, any of the bands on the CD, or Beatles or Ramones fans, click the shopping cart button and buy this CD while you still can, before the forces of evil can stop you!
