I was expecting to hear some quality music from this CD and I wasn't disappointed! After hearing Boots of Chinese Plastic on the radio I had to have this album. I was really impressed with the variety that the tunes deliver. It goes through different styles of music and executes them well. The Nothing Maker has a folk feel to it and Don't Lose Faith is bluesy enough to ad to your favorite blues list. Other selections remind you of the older material from past recordings.I especially liked Rosalee, but all these tunes are everything that you would expect from the Pretenders and then some!Free Music Review: The Pretenders very alive and well

It is Chrissie's voice that make the Pretenders great and she always has band members around her that play with economy, skill and empathy. Break up the Concrete is mostly a return to the band's sound circa 1982 [my favorite era]. Song writing is solid and the results should appeal to long time fans AND to listeners much younger than myself. I love the Pretenders and i wanted this ever since I heard about it. It was not as good as some of their others but I am enjoying it.Chrissie is my girl and she can sing for me anytime.
