Free Music Notes for The Producers (2001 Original Broadway Cast)Free Music Review: THE BEST MUSICAL EVER!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Okay, this is definately my favorite Broadway show of ALL TIME!! Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick are perfect for these roles. The comedy never stops in the dialogue, the music, the lyrics, and the script. All of the songs are filled with hilarious puns. The CD opens up to the exciting and fast-paced Overature, and then zooms into Opening Night. The intensity never stops! A theatre-lovers' dream come true! Mel Brooks couldn't have chosen a better cast to portray these characters. Not ONE of the voices in this CD are weak at all. Nathan Lane shines as bright as ever, and Matthew shared the spotlight at well. The entire CD will have you singing ALL the memorable tunes like "Springtime for Hitler", "I Wanna Be A Producer", "WE CAN DO IT!", and finally, "BETRAYED!". Nathan Lane really shows off his talent and comic bits in "Betrayed" and "Along Came Bialy" also will get your heart racing. This is an EXCELLENT recording, in fact, one of the BEST Broadway recordings I know in EXISTANCE. This is for sure an instant classic, and will make every Broadway lover get chill bumps. BUY NOW!!!
Free Music Review: Just alot of fun Hit: 5 Stars
I have loved the movie"The Producers"for years and was thrilled when it bacame a musical.I am fortunate enough to have tickets to the show and wanted to listen to the cast album before going.Good idea!!There are so many jokes weaved into the lyrics that each time you listen to it you catch something you missed the last time.As far as singing voices go,I have heard some serious bashing of the voice talents of both Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick.I have one thing to say, there is a big difference between being a concert level singer and being a Broadway singer. Some of Broadways most famous names haven't had a fabulous singing voice,it was all in the delivery that made them famous. This is the case here too. No,I can't imagine spending 2 hours listening to Nathan Lane singing in straight concert form, but I can't imagine anyone else giving the same character to the songs he sings in this show. This is great fun to listen to and a wonderful way to relive the fun you had when you saw the show on Broadway or to expand on your movie experiance.
Free Music Review: As close to perfection as you can get...... Hit: 5 Stars
The St. James dosen't need to find another tenant for a long, long, LONG time. Broadway's newest blockbuster is here. After seeing the show in previews, I could not wait for the cd to come out. Having not been familiar with the plot, I had no idea what to expect...I had gotten the tickets on a whim, and simply because Nathan Lane and Roger Bart were in it. Boy, what a show that was.....words cannot do justice to this lavish production. Brooks' melodies soar, and Lane and Broderick are fantastic in their parts (I was impressed on Brodericks improvement from H2$). Brooks' lyrics are cleaver, witty, and sometimes offensive, but they work in his interest. Of course, being captured on cd you lose a lot of the show (the lavish production of Springtime for Hitler (which was worth the ticket price alone) and the hillarious Along Came Bialy) but you still get Brooks' fantastic songs. Come Sunday night, I'm betting that THE PRODUCERS will probably set a record number of wins at the tonys.....and boy do they deserve every one of them.....
Free Music Review: How I wish I could get to this Show! Hit: 5 Stars
Oh my God! This is such a great C.D. it has all of the kitsch of a musical from the 40's 50's with Mel Brooks wicked, wicked sense of humor. Nathan Lane is so charismatic that he remains likeable as a cynical Producer on the outs who decides to bilk old ladies out of their money for and for the first time in perhaps years Mathew Broderick, a.k.a. the Ferris Bueller guy, finds a way to capitalize on his Peter Pan thang as a young man who dreams of being a producer and can only achieve that dream through shady dealings. Mel Brooks sense of comic timing and language are superb as ever with his songs like, Der Gutten Tag Hop-Clop, where the writer of "Springtime for Hitler in Germany makes Max and Leo swear "to obey the sacred Siegfried oath.../and.../and.../ and.../...never, never, never.../ ...dishonor the spirit of Adolf Elizabeth Hitler!" He's a descendent of a long line of English queens don't ya know! This is a thoroughly fun, endlessly listenable C.D., and a fabulous buy!
Free Music Review: Brilliant!!! Simply Brilliant!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I've always loved Mel Brooks...but I must say that he has outdone even himself this time. The Producers brings back the classic style of Broadway which is so hard to find nowadays. Big, bright production number songs, sweet ballads, fun, entertaining...but that is only one side of this release. It's really the comic flavor and the ingenuity of Brooks that makes this an outstanding recording. If you've ever seen the movie, "The Producers", then you might think that this production might not be able to live up to the movie, but you'd be wrong. Every song, every moment, every iota of a second of this CD can be savored, and well it should. Well worth any price on it's own...but consider this: you also get a singing Hitler, a song entitled "Keep it Gay", Nathan Lane, Matt Broderick, and "chorus boys in very tight pants". Now if this recording isn't worth it's weight in gold and diamonds, I'd like to see which one is!!!
