Free Music Review: That Great Rock Sound

Following their breakthrough Whip It On EP this Danish duo don't break their mold, but definitely tweak it a bit to make a more varied and satisfying sound. The minimalist sound is a mix of surf music, 60s girl group harmonies, do wop, and foggy, fuzzy guitar sounds that ends up sounding so familiar, but yet so different. The music is more upbeat than the debut, but their songs still seem to revolve around old pulp novels and film noirs. The mix of songwriter/guitarist Sune Rose Wagner's murky male vocals and Sharin Foo's wispy female voice are perfection together and help add atmosphere. It's short and catchy pop craftsmanship at it's best, the songs all clock in at under 3 minutes so that you're guarnanteed not to grow tired of it.4.5 stars
