Free Music Notes for The Red Violin: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack AlbumFree Music Review: staggerinly complex music makes for music hard to listen to Hit: 3 Stars
This score features one of the greatest violinists of our day and was written by a master composer, but those who do not appreciate dissonant, modern classical music will not enjoy this album. It is not pleasant-sounding melodic themes that most movie scores are. The writing in this music is terribly complex and theoretically intriguing, but this is not a score that I sit down and listen to as I read a book or something. This is not background music. With the exception of a couple tracks, this is not music that will please the lay people of the film music world. I give this score 3 stars because it has brilliance behind it, but will only appeal to very (modern) classically minded listeners. I'm sorry to say I don't fancy myself one of those. I recognize this piece for what it is, and honestly admit that I don't enjoy it much.
