Free Music Notes for The Red Violin: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: A perfect melange....glorious! Hit: 5 Stars
As an enthusiast in multimedia art, I am always delighted to see the image, motion and sound blend well in a film, although it is a rarity. I am especially satisfied that this work has elevated the aspect of sound to its full potential. Corigliano's score so wonderfully combines the tradition of classical music and contemporary emotional element---simply marvelous. The talent of Salonen and Bell as performers reaffirmed my conviction in classical music, the future and now. Absolutely an electrifying, intelligent achievement!
Free Music Review: not a wasted moment Hit: 5 Stars
this is a movie soundtrack that has few if any dead areas like many other soundtracks. it helps that john corgliano is a classical composer of the first rank. the cd is little under an hour in length. the best advertisement was not only the movie but, the fact that us figure skater michelle kwan is using the music in her program. it helps her show her artistry. if mr. corgliano writes another movie soundtrack, i may not necessarily see the movie but i will check out the soundtrack.
Free Music Review: A Masterpiece Hit: 5 Stars
The future of Classical music in the 20th and 21st centuries is in film scores. John Corigliano takes his musical knowledge and his background as a more serious composer and came up with this absolute gem that has just risen the level of the film score genre to a new step. With the assistance of Joshua Bell's masterful playing, the CD explores the real of human emotion through the single most perfect and controversial intrument, the violin. Buy this score and see this incredible film.
Free Music Review: Some of the most skilled work for a movie this year. Hit: 5 Stars
This is a score that should get an oscar nomination or win but probably won't. What is amazingly distinct about Corrigliano's work compared to other works by film composers is how secure Corrigliano's musical technique feels. The rhythms develop musically and those string effects...they melt my heart. I say it probably won't get an academy notice because the melody is subtle, part of an overall effect more than hummable. Absolutely beautiful none the less.
Free Music Review: Great way to relax Hit: 5 Stars
The soundtrack to the Red Violin is as beautiful as the movie. It's contrasts of tempo, timbre, and volume were perfect for the film. So perfect, in fact, that one wonders whether the movie was not written to fit the music.I'd have to agree with a previous review that you should view the film prior to purchasing the soundtrack however. It'll add a flavor and emotion to the music that would probably be missing without knowing the story behind the violin.
