Free Music Review: shine a light indeed

Wouldn't have thought it could happen, but this is the best live Stones album since "Ya Yas".
Mick's vocals haven't been this unaffected in years, the guitars are suitably cutting - Keith and Ron have the blend working here - the mix is hot, and the set list is more than a pleasant surprise.
Not everything works: "As Tears Go By" is rather wooden,
"Faraway Eyes" will never transcend the level of joke, and the band just doesn't have the soul to do soul classics justice: "Just My Imagination".
But these are minor complaints because what does work on this album comes ripping out of the speakers with a vengeance. Check out "She Was Hot" for starters.
We all know it can't last forever, but for old Stones fans "Shine a Light" is a gift from the rock 'n' roll gods. Rock on gentlemen.
