Free Music Review: Excellent way to continue the information from Stranger Safety in your car!

We have both Stranger Safety DVD and the CD and both my daughter and I are so pleased with both of these products. Both the DVD & the CD should be sold together because they are just that good! With the CD there are catchy tunes that reinforces the information in really good and well done songs. Being a parent I don't even mind listening!
The Safe Side company was founded by Julie Clark who is the founder of the Baby Einstein Company and John Walsh the host of America's Most Wanted, and sadly a parent who's child went missing and was later found to be brutally murdered. Their mission is to " create fun, entertaining, educational and empowering products for children that make presonal safety cool. It also states that it's to help children ages 5 to 12 safer " by providing critical safety information that empowers them to make good decisions when confronted with dangerous situations involving people they may or may not know." Our daughter is 4 1/2 and she got the message and loves to sing along.
There are 10 songs and when you open the liner notes there is more information about each song.
Track / Song 1. SAFE SIDE CIRCLE-This is a Safe Side Hot Tip from the DVD - Never talk to Don't Knows unless your Safe Side Adult is with you.
For you who don't have the dvd yet there are Safe Side Adults, Kinda Knows and Don't Knows adult catagories. Safe Side people are your parents, grandparents, very close family friends that could pick up your children if you're not there. Kinda Knows are people like your gymnastics teacher, your mail man, your neighbor down the street... people that you have seen before and kinda know. And Don't Knows are people you don't know.
A safe side circle is about 15 feet with your child in the middle. If anyone comes into your safe side circle that you don't know, you run away and find a safe side adult.
2. SUPER HERO - I like this song because it talks about being a super hero and that you don't have to cape to be a super hero, but you are wise and with the knowledge you have you can be safe.
3. I DON'T KNOW YOU - The liner notes say this " This song relays a very important message to kids and parents, The title of our first video, Stranger Safety,uses the word " Stranger," however you will not see or hear the word "stranger" in the video or in this record. " Stranger" is a word that creates many misconceptions, particularly with children. A key goal of our video and this record is to provide parents and children with a more effective way to evaluate situations around them without resorting to the traditional "Stranger" concept.
This is a little slangy for me since in the song it's " I'm not going to talk to YA.... but it's catchy tune and is hip... so as long as my daughter gets the message it's OK. I do like the song very much other than that 1 little word.
4. DON'T KNOW, DON'T TALK - Safe Side Hot Tip: Never Talk to Don't Knows unless your Safe Side Adult is with you.
I like this song very much because part of the lyrics are" Now it ain't rude or impolite to tell soneone you don't know it's not alright to talk with you... to it's teaching children it's not rude to not talk to a Don't Know adult. And then the song goes on to say " And you may know someone from somewhere a friend of a friend, or somebody who seems to care, but only put your faith in the few. who you know, who you love, who you can trust to be there for you!"
5. TRICKS - Safe Side Hot Tip: Stop & Think! Don't Fall for Tricks!
An awesome song, talks about how grownups you don't know should never ask for children's help, " I'm not gonna find your puppy, take your bags or taste your cookies, I'm gonna tell my safe side what you tried, cause I'm too smart to fall for lies." Again, not crazy about the word Gonna.
6. DON'T GO - Safe Side Hot Tip: Never Go anywhere, with anyone, unless you ask your Safe Side Adult First.
7. SAFE SIDE CLOSE- Safe Side Hot Tip: Keep your Safe Side Adults close, If you can see them, they can see you.
8. THE DOOR - Safe Side Hot Tip: Never Open the door without your Safe Side Adults
9. ALWAYS THERE - Safe Side Hot Tip: Know your three Safe Side Adults. The dvd asks you to ask your parents who are your 3 Safe Side Adults and then asks for more Safe Side Adults. These are the people are there to keep you safe.
10. RIDE OF OUR LIVES - "This rocking song is about celebrating life with the onese we love, and staying smart, cool and safe"
It's an awesome tool for your children and money well spent! Knowledge is power and if your child has this knowledge and never has to use it then Awesome. But to know and be familiar and being able to keep your child, their siblings and friends safe, than this cd and DVD is worth it's weight in GOLD!
