Free Music Notes for The Queen Is DeadFree Music Review: One Of The Best Hit: 5 StarsThe Smiths are one of the best bands ever. They were so unique and came around at the right time in music history.
I LOVE this CD--it's their best by far.
Free Music Review: So meet me at the cemetary gates... Hit: 5 StarsI've loved the Smiths for a long time now...I remember I borrowed some tape or another at the library and copied some of my favourite songs. I don't remember which one it was cos it doesn't seem to jive with what's readily available. Enough of my babbling. So recently due to the influence of an evil friend, I started purchasing the Smiths. This one has my absolute favourite "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out"; I'm a touch morbid, but you've got to be. Plus it has fun songs as well. We all must remember that "Some Girls are Bigger Than Others".... Enjoy...whether you're new or revisiting the "good" old days...or is that daze???
Free Music Review: my first smiths Hit: 5 StarsThis was my first smiths record and I don't regret it ,If you don't own this buy it now this is also a good intro for anyone new to The Smiths.
Free Music Review: This is The Album Hit: 5 Stars80s , 90s and so far have observed a lack of true classic albums, i mean really true classic albums not that one microwaved bands glorified by the rolling stone magazine, MTV and the whole media, just think about it what albums come to your mind when you think or you discuss with your friends regarding classic albums? Beatles revolver? , any Bob Dillan work?, Presley sun sessions? Zeppelin? of course right? but try to think of any classic album after the 70s and you will have troubles i bet my ass, well, Smiths The Queen is Dead at least is one repply to this matter, because the sober and at the same melancholic mood along with the charming and calm voice of Stephen Patrick Morrisey, the Jhonny Marr deligthfull strings and beautifull lyrics made not only of "The Queen is Dead" but all Smiths albums gorgeous collectible pieces of British contemporary music, elegance and refinement are the basic elements of their music, "frankly Mr. Shankly" is one of my faves, "i know its over" , "the boy with the torn in its side" you name it!!!! this album can be easily included into 80s few classics.

Free Music Review: The Queen is Dead, But The Smiths are Not Hit: 5 Stars Definitely a gem in the Smiths anthology, The Queen is Dead is the album that launched the Smiths to international acclaim in contrast to the relegated cult following they enjoyed in Europe. As many fans of the Smiths, when I first became acquainted with the Smiths, I discovered a band that represented much more than an image or sound. As an alienated youth, Morrissey's whitty and heartfelt lyrics where ones that I readily clung to. Through the music of the Smith's I was able to conjure an image of what it was lke to be British. Perhaps to some residents of the U.K, gestures of national pride and cultural identity might appear to be vulgar or even jingoistic, but if there's anything lacking from music today, it would be the sense of urgeny and passion that a band like The Smiths conveyed to the world. Long live great music and Long live The Smiths.
