Free Music Notes for The Sound of Music (1965 Film Soundtrack - 40th Anniversary Special Edition)Free Music Review: Just a question... Hit: 5 Stars
With the Laserdisc version of the film - years ago - there was a deluxe soundtrack cassette which contained the only "commercial" release of the full version of "Processional and Maria". Every other soundtrack that has been released for this film, including the numerous anniversary editions that pop up every five years, continue to have only the edited version which has been in circulation since the soundtrack's first release back in '65. Do any of my fellow Sound of Music fanatics know if the FULL version of the Processional is available anywhere?!?!?
Free Music Review: Great for Kids Hit: 5 Stars
My daughter immediately stops crying when we play the CD or DVD. It is such a life saver for us because we can put her in her swing, take showers, or get other household chores done. We discovered it when she was 7 months, and it still works like a charm (she is now almost 9 months).
Plus the songs are wonderful!
The CD works better for us because it's non stop singing. When we play the DVD she cries when the characters stop singing, unless we are sitting with her.
Free Music Review: LOVE IT!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I love this musical, I adore Julie Andrews, and this edition is fantastic! As a singer, I don't think it gets much better than Julie Andrews. The first half is great for kids, but wait until they are older for the secong half when it becomes about escaping from the Nazis. Great dvd!!Voice Lessons To Go v.1-4 The Complete Set
Free Music Review: Loved it so much, we bought it twice. Hit: 5 Stars
You know all of these songs and Julie Andrews is at her best. This is a great soundtrack, and the disc got a ton of play in my family. On a vacation trip to California the disc accidentally got left behind in the rental car. After 6 months of the kids asking for me to replace the disc, I finally bought it again. The disc is in heavy rotation, to borrow a term from radio programming, and everyone's enjoying it again.
Free Music Review: The Sound of Music (1965 Soundtrack - 40th Anniversary SE) Hit: 5 Stars
Who couldn't love The Sound of Music. If you've bought the soundtrack you already know what you want.
Pros: Great detail. Some new hidden gems and cuts.
Cons: I didn't like the fact that the CD had no meta labels, so my cars CD player (2007 Honda) couln't display any track names. It's amazing that companies still make CD like that.
