Free Music Notes for The Sound of Music (1965 Film Soundtrack)Free Music Review: Stirs up wonderful memories Hit: 5 Stars
A fabulous soundtrack album for a great one-of-a-kind movie. Who can listen to it, and not remember times past, seeing it in the cinema when it first came out, or certain Christmas days (a standard Christmas fare now, it seems). Listening to this album stirs up a lot of memories. And this 30th Anniversary edition, introduces a new generation of listeners to one of the greatest musicals of all time. The songs have been reconfigured to correspond with the sequencing of the film, which was not always possible in the days of vinyl records. And the 16 page booklet is jam-packed with photos from the film and 3 interesting essays on Rodgers and Hammerstein, The Von Trapp family and The Sound of Music. A must have album for fans of this timeless musical.
Free Music Review: The music makes me feel that life is beautiful. Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of my favorite CD. The song I like most is `Prelude and the Sound of Music'. The lyric is so wonderful: My heart wants to beat like the wings of the birds that rise from the lake to the trees / My heart wants to sigh like a chime that flies from a church on a breeze / To laugh like a brook when it trips and falls over stones on its way / To sing through the night like a lark who is learning to pray....It seems that the song is telling me "Although sometimes people have to be realistic, there is much beauty in life. Just treasure and cherish your life." Each time I listened to this CD, I felt pleasant or even cheerful ^_^ I once gave it to a friend as a Christmas gift. I think songs in this CD are genuine.
Free Music Review: A last creative masterpiece by one of America's finest! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a review tempered with a tribute to the person who first introduced this great film to me. She was, on the outside, a tough but smart woman. The least likely one who would love this musical. Her name was Wilma K. Morgan and it was she who instilled a love for this movie and the score of this lovely work. Julie Andrews was the perfect choice for Maria: a secure technical equipment coupled with charm necessary for the role. Christopher Plummer as the emotionally scarred Captain. To give the music a matching warmth is Irwin Kostal who arranged and composed everything with great flair. Buy this CD. It's simply the greatest. And thank you Wilma Morgan wherever you are these days! You were a gem of a person!
Free Music Review: I love it! Julie Andrews has the best voice Hit: 5 Stars
I have bought this record, and I LOVE IT! I think Julie Andrews is the best actress on earth and she has the best voice too. Who cares if she can't sing now? She's still the best! I think the film version is much better than the Broadway version. And Julie Andrews is much better than Mary Martin! Mary Martin sucks big time! And, the songs are sung with expression and life. Especially My Favorite Things. If you dont wanna buy this, you're NUTS! Also, the movie, with Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, Charmian Carr, Eleanor made more sense than the stage musical See ya! I am only 13 and I love it!
Free Music Review: It's a joy for your heart Hit: 5 Stars
I saw the movie as a young child (under the age of 10) and can vividly remember the songs. To hear Julie Andrews sing the main theme, you feel as if you too are on a mountaintop and the world is at your fingertips. It's envigorating, enlivening, and energizing - to say the least. Every song on this soundtrack is a gem. Watch the movie if you're not sure about this purchase. It's certain to convince you that you will want to hear these tunes again and again. Falls into the category of "what I want to hear after a tough day at work"!!
