Free Music Review: They're Back - In All Their Idiotic, Moronic Glory!
Hit: 5 Stars

Let's see....so far, we have 9 reviews - three are 5 star, three are 4 star, one is 3 stars, and two are 1 star reviews.

Not sure exactly what those latter two guys were expecting, but, IMO, we got exactly what we needed and what was expected from Iggy and the Brothers Asheton - simple, seemingly brainless, LOUD rock & roll music! The Ashetons, to me, are the real stars here, playing each song as if it's their last. Yeah, Iggy's voice is buried in the mix, somewhat disappointingly, as it's difficult to make out some of the lyrics, which, I'm sure, he'll put across better live. I'm sure that the mix was done that way at his insistence, to make sure that we realize this is The Stooges, and not Iggy Pop or Iggy & the Stooges.

To me, this is a more than decent follow-up to Fun House. (The band radically changed when Ron moved to bass and James Williamson was brought in to play guitar. Those particular Stooges are long gone, but who knows? Everyone's still alive, and they could reunite in the future to bring "Raw Power" back to the stage!) The songs have catchy hooks, many have great singalong choruses (Who among us doesn't want to see and hear a packed theater of fans singing "My idea of fun...is killing everyone!"?), and I'm sure they'll sound great live!!! Are they as good as the "Stooges" and "Fun House" classics? Only time will tell.

As in the cases of the Dolls, Radio Birdman, and Mary Weiss (ex-Shangri-La's), this is yet another overdue and welcome return....and another excellent new album.

Free Music Review: The Triumphant Return of The Stooges!
Hit: 5 Stars

If this isn't cause for celebration in this pessimistic fake Cristian world of ours then there really is no hope for us. This is The Stooges, the band that stupid people hate because they force them to see themselves the way they really are. Each song dissects life as we all know it and taunts us to look at our stupid existance and possibly break free of the puppet strings which control us. This is "Art" to the Highest degree and The Stooges make it sound easy, like they made it all up on the spot. Every song starts with a bang and ends with a bang with no let up in-between. This is true rock music, not the kiddie crap that sells nowadays. Scott Asheton, Ron Asheton and Iggy are all mixed equal so it's not Iggy and The Stooges, it's The Stooges.Mike Watt is the lucky guy who gets to live my lifelong dream- to be the bass player for The Stooges. The photo of Dave Alexander's Mosrite bass inside Funhouse caused me to run out and buy my first Mosrite bass back when I was 17. The only gripe I have is Mike Watt should have used a Mosrite but since they were aiming for more of a "Raw Power" type of feel I guess it's no big deal.If you like "Your pretty face is going to Hell"then you'll definitely like this.Hopefully they'll continue to make music together-rock music this pure and honest can't be found anywhere else and it's something this phoney world we all live in needs very badly.

Free Music Review: The legacy remains intact!
Hit: 5 Stars

Been a fan since 1969! Yes I am 51 years old and have been starving for some decent rock and roll for a while. The negative reviews in my opinion
are from those who have missed the point. As some reviewers have already stated...each previous release was greeted poorly. Only years later they have been lauded by critics and punk/grunge musicians. The same can be said for all the veterans from Clapton to the Stones. Every new release being wrongly weighed by past accomplisments. However if you match any of the new stuff these lengendary acts have released lately ("The Weirdness," "The Road to Escondido" or "A Bigger Bang")against what's on the Billboard Charts, the radio or whatever the flavor of the month is, the new hot acts all pale in comparison. You also can't judge "The Weirdness" by listening to it through wimpy IPOD speakers. It needs to be played loud (anyone from Detroit knows that!)dummy. The mix that the
critics whine about will then begin to make some sense. Now that the Stooges and MC5/DKT are back (Scott Morgan's Powertrane too!) real RAWK,
Detroit, hard as nails, in your face, gut wrenching, guitar army, chest thumping music as I lived it should wipe the slate clean again some 35 years later. If American Idol and downloading the hit of the day is the name of the game these days...won't you please instead join me in the weirdness!

Free Music Review: Well...I like it.
Hit: 5 Stars

Obviously, judging by a lot of the bad reviews here, some folks just can't appreciate the goodness of The Weirdness. Well, as somebody once said long ago, you can't please all the people all the time, and ain't that the truth? But anyway, regardless, I'm really liking this album just fine all the same. This CD features 12 tracks and only two of them are kinda weak. The rest of the album rocks, and Iggy is great as always, both lyrically and vocally.

The lyrics, which get trashed by a lot of the critics out there, are witty and genius, in my opinion. With lines like this one from, You Can't Have Friends, "I wanna' be your friend to the bitter end.", or how about this one from the very cool Mexican Guy ditty, "Maybe I should swallow a pill? Maybe I should listen to Dr. Phil?" Or, maybe it's just the way that Iggy delivers them that makes them so great? Either way, I like this album, a lot.

Standout tracks are, My Idea of Fun, The Weirdness, Free & Freaky, Greedy Awful People, and Mexican Guy.

Free Music Review: Very Good, but what did you expect from the Stooges?
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is music to this listener's ears. LONG overdue. These guys where made for each other. Iggy's solo efforts were spotty, a few very good albums here and there. But to hear all the Stooges all reunited, except for the late great Dave Alexander, may he Rest In Peace,is a real mind blower. These guys sound like they never broke up! Iggy is Punk Rock. He's still questioning and searching after these years. He has defininetly not become domesticated. His songs, especialy with the Stooges are better than He's crafted in years. Now on to the Stooges perfomence, these guys sound GREAT. I think their playing is as innovative as when first started at least, and much better, often,at this point in their musical career's.Overall I have to give this album a five star rating.Just because I've waited a long time for this reunion album to occur. And more importantly it dind't dissapoint!
