It seems like this album has been through every major event in my life. It lends itself differently to each--whether I'm happy or sad; wandering around aimlessly or tethered down; pretty much anything. Left & Leaving has been through it all and tied it all together.
'I still hear trains at night, when the wind is right--i remember everything'--it's like a soundtrack of history slipping by while making me conscious of it's passing--and appreciating everything more so for it...
It's a beautiful album--'Without Mythologies' is the weak point for me--it just doesn't mesh with the whole in my opinion...but regardless, this must be one of the greatest albums ever recorded, even if it remains rather obscure--
If you want a great starting point for the Weakerthans, this is it.
