Free Music Notes for De StijlFree Music Review: This will probably be looked back at as a classic Hit: 5 Stars
Junior year of high school (2007) I found a brand new copy of "Icky Thump" in my public library. I had read about the Stripes in the paper (I'm from Metro Detroit, so they're hometown heroes) and wanted to see what the hype was about. I checked out the CD,I took it down to the basement, sat down with a jar of peanut butter and just listened.
For the first time in a while I heard honesty in music, something sorely lacking in all the mainstream crap that's out there.
I pirated Icky Thump (sorry Jack and Meg) and decided to legitimately buy an album. I chose DeStijl and I'm not sorry. It's short, sweet, heartfelt, rocking, and full of Detroit grit 'n soul.
If you're going to start listening to the Stripes, get this or Icky. They're my two favorites. I own them all now, so it's not just sentimentality.

Free Music Review: You make my generation proud... Hit: 5 Stars
Thank you, that's really that is really needed to be said. This music is one of the great album's I have listened to this year. I have to admit, this band really sounds like Led Zeppelin. In the song "Truth doesn't make Noise," shows you how closely related they are (Jack White's vocals really sound like Robert Plants vocals). This band is among the few bands that keep classic rock, blues/rock fans still buying modern rock/blues albums.
I have to admit, Jack White is best with the White Stripes; not with the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather. But, I heard that they will reconvene this year for the seventh album (release for 2011). The Dead Weather are great and same with the Raconteurs, but they are a level under the White Stripes... The classic line up is Meg White on the drums and Jack White on Piano, Guitar, and vocals. They are todays Led Zeppelin. Lets just put it at that.
Free Music Review: Doing what they do best Hit: 5 Stars
De Stijl is The White Stripes being The White Stripes. I am in love with Jack's guitar style, throwing in lots of bluesy riffs on this album. It retains the garage rock feeling of their first album, but starts to develop the depth that this two person band is famous for on their later albums.
My favorite songs would have to be Death Letter and Little Bird, and the whole album is a fun listen. Meg backs him up with her simple yet effective drumming style, and is of course magically babelicious.
Can't wait for these guys to let out another album!
Free Music Review: very late to the party here. Hit: 5 Stars
I was aware of the White Stripes, but had never picked up any of their music.
I don't know what it was that kept me away, but I finally decided to pick up
this CD. I am now a big fan and think they are very unique in their delivery of
music. This CD has no "flow" to it, but that really does not matter. The songs
are so good you do not care after awhile. This is a great listening experience.
This CD will stay in my collection forever.
Free Music Review: Jack White--De Stijl and his adaptations of the blues Hit: 5 Stars
Great music, great sounds from The White Stripes and Jack adapting his love of the blues to his style of music. His work is evolving, and everything he does is fascinating to hear, see and learn .
Has put great adventure back into the world of music.
