Free Music Notes for Get Behind Me Satan AlbumFree Music Review: As expected...amazing! Hit: 5 StarsThe White Stripes' previous album "Elephant" earned them a grammy and was voted Time Magazine Top 10 Albums of the Year. The year after that, Jack White produced Loretta Lynn to her grammy. With such a tall order to fill, how did the Stripes go about making their next album? They produced it in 2 weeks. Heck, artists take longer to write one song for their album. But don't be fooled, in it's simplicity lies it's genius.
I guess a way to put it would be...this album tops "Elephant" the way "Elephant" topped "White Blood Cells". All The White Stripes' signature sounds are there and they are as entertaining as ever. I have all of this band's albums and their music has always been unique but "Get Behind Me Satan" has got to be the best so far. The guitar riffs are killer, and like the Amazon.com reviewer said, there's also pounding pianos this time around, Meg's drumming is casual yet outstanding, Jack's bluesy vocals fit the songs perfectly, and we also get intelligent lyrics laced with humour, wit and sarcasm.
In my opinion, The White Stripes is one of the most creative bands out there today. From their catchy songs to those superb videos, they have always put out the best for their listeners and fans. All being done as honest as possible. It's not hard to see what this band relies on in the release of this album, and nope, it's not glossy production, big-named producers or guest artists...it's talent, and I'm sure that it won't go unnoticed. I would do a track by track commentary, but I believe each person should have their own thoughts and opinions about the music here but personally, every song is crafted perfectly thus the 5-star rating.
I am someone open-minded and I'm not going to say that this album caters for everybody. But for those who have been fans of the Stripes all this while, they won't be disappointed and for those who wants to start listening to their music, this album is as good a starting point as any. In short, the Stripes continue to do what they did so wonderfully in "Elephant". Make no mistake, this album kicks a$$ and it blows other rock bands to dust. Another fantastic album from an amazing duo.
