Free Music Notes for Icky ThumpFree Music Review: another great album Hit: 5 Stars
perhaps its just me but i think Icky Thump could be used to describe Meg Whites consistently simplified drumwork. The reason why i love Stripes is because of how expiremental and mix-mashed they are, but on this one in particulary because of how it sounds very much like the early acid-rock years. the song "st. Andrews" sounds like a beatles tune gone berserk. Rag and Bone has a nice bluesy undertone and through the lyrics, makes theft and pickpocketing very very comical.
by now, we know what to expect from a White Stripes album. if you didnt like them before, you wont like them now. if you liked them than, youll love this one.
Free Music Review: Their best album since Elephant Hit: 5 Stars
After feeling slightly let down by thier previouse album 'Get behind me Satin' I was a little leery of what to expect from Icky Thump. All I can say is that after the first minute into the album I was knocked out by what I heard. It was the White Stripes back with a vengance catipulted by the Blues influences heard on thier earlier stuff but much more refined though not without a whole gaggle of musical suprises and overwhelming creativity that only the White Stripes can record, package, and distribute. What can one say. IT'S ABSOLUTELY FRICKING BRILLIANT!!!!! Take a bow Jack and Meg, you have truly outdone yourselves this time. Bravo!
Free Music Review: Awesome. Terrific rock album. Hit: 5 Stars
After skipping the White Stripes last album, because of its apparent lack of guitar, I was eager to hear the new one. Having read that Jack White the guitar hero was back in full force, I eagerly picked up Icky Thump. I was not at all disappointed. The album is fantastic. Yes, Jack's guitar is back! The album is loud, it rocks and the songs are great. All of them. There's nary a weak track here. In addition to guitar, the songs also incorporate bagpipes (!!!), old-school Univox synthesizers and a mariachi trumpet. If you like the White Stripes or just good rock music in general, Icky Thump is very worthwhile.
Free Music Review: Listen to the Lyrics Hit: 5 Stars
This is the first White Stripes Album I've bought, and it will not be the last. The title track may put some people of with its dissonance, and purposful stuttering feel, but there is more than enough variety in this album for those who did not enjoy the Icky Thump.
The real secret to appriciateing the songs is simply to listen to the lyrics, this is not an album to play in the background but one to listen to.
In my opinion this is one of the best albums I have ever bought, nearing the quality one finds in the too-short Raconteurs album. Which Jack was a part of.
Free Music Review: WOW! Hit: 5 Stars
All i can say this album KICKS A!! I went on a 6 road road trip to check out the cherry blossoms here (location classified). I loaded all WS on my Zune MP3 in my BMW MINI and hit the road. DAMN!!!!! Too bad I could not crank up the volume more on this album with the sunroof open flying down the hiway at over 100 mph. My Harmon Kardon stereo will never recover. I may have shredded my tweeters! HAHA. I look forward to the next WS project as always....these kids rock and will kick u in the head when u least expect it.......and I love it!
