Free Music Review: 'love reign o'er me'

First of all, to all who love rock'n'roll this is a great album inside out and from start to end. This review is not for you, so please skip to the next one. This review is only for people who presently do not like the music of The Who.
Quadrophenia was the most ambitious project coming out of The Who and one of the earliest such elaborate concepts in all of rock. It is a mixture of rock and rock'n'roll opera and although I don't like rock'n'roll I am reviewing this double album and I am giving it 5 stars. There are some amazingly beautiful moments here, and although they are rare, I find them stunning and worth dissecting. Once again, I am really sorry to all lovers of rock'n'roll. To you it must be an amazing album throughout and you are right. However, I have met many people during my life who, when I brought up The Who right away said, no thank you. It is their hearts and minds I want to change. The Who is one of these rock'n'roll bands who have left us some beautiful rock music behind, completely 'n'roll-free (I like the look of this new word). Digging through their back catalogue as well as Pete Townshend's solo material I have found plenty of great music to fill the 80 minute cd. Coming back to Quadrophenia, it could have been as well named Love Reign O'er Me, because that is the underlying, repetitive theme of this project. That fact alone I consider worth another star. Name Quadrophenia related to the personalities of the four group members combined into the psyche of its main hero, Jimmy Cooper. The story of Jimmy's coming of age pays homage to the group's personal past and the future of rock music. To me the most important and beautifully haunting moments of Quadrophenia are: part 7 from disc #2; part 3 from disc #1; and the other parts which I like are parts 8,9,10 from disc #1 and part 6 from disc #2. Again, this album is very good and even providing you don't mind rock'n'roll. I am a little allergic to it and I just can't help it. However, whoever feels the same way I do, and I know there plenty of you out there, please listen to these songs from my Love Reign O'er Me compilation of their music, and notice their greatness:

At its simplest level, Quadrophenia is a coming-of-age story with an awesome soundtrack. The album features some of the Who's finest material, in songs like the enraged "Real Me," the cynical "Punk Meets the Godfather," the wistful "5:15" and "Sea and Sand," and the powerful "Love, Reign O'er Me." The songwriting (courtesy of Pete Townshend) is top-notch, as is the production (the Who actually managed to use synthesizers in an original manner, something few rock bands can aspire to). The mix of powerful songwriting and skillful composition makes this one of the Who's finest moments. --Genevieve Williams
