Free Music Notes for QuadropheniaFree Music Review: A classic rock album, and deservedly so ! Hit: 5 StarsWhat can I say ? It's a great album ! Mind you, not The Who's best, but a great album regardless, with very expressive lyrics and rich melodies in trademark WHO style....
Free Music Review: QUADROPHENIA A BRILLIANT MCA CD EDITION, JUST ONE OF THE WHOS OTHER MASTERPIECES............... Hit: 5 StarsThe Who in a different direction than their previous works of Tommy, Who's Next. Quadrophenia released November 3,1973, is more personal and focuses on life incidences and has a warmer sound lyrically. The who had their third straight 5 star album with Quadrophenia and really is just one of their magnum opuses. This recording would be any normal rock bands ultimate achievement, but not the Who. This recording was written brilliantly with regular people in mind. The instrumentation is incredible. The remastering of Quadrophenia is done brilliantly, this cd has a hall like sound, as if the Who is performing Quadrophenia live in a studio hall. The thing I like about this MCA remastered edition is that like the original two lp set MCA kept this a two cd set without cramming Quadrophenia into one disc and ruining the magnificent sound of the remastering on this edition. Pete Townshend's whirling guitar riffs have never been more blistering, John Entwistle was an amazing bass player and probably the best rock bass performer ever, and is sorely missed. Keith Moons(sorely missed) drumming is on a different level. Of course Roger Daltrys voice is sharp and crackling with appalling vibrance.
The book supplied is very informative and has the song lyrics. The packaging with the book and the two cd case is really nice and of course brilliant remastering. Highly recommended for any Who fan, hardcore Who fan or beginner. Hats off to MCA for a beautiful Quadrophenia cd release..............................
Free Music Review: A great CD Hit: 5 StarsThe Who's second "rock opera" about mod life in the early and late 60's. It has pure classic rock songs like The Real Me, The Punk And The Godfather, and Doctor Jimmy. Then it has laid back songs like Cut My Hair,
I'm One, and Sea And Sand. Then it has powerful songs like 5:15 and Love Reign O'er Me. It also has the two instrumental songs, Quadrophenia and The Rock, that are awesome without words anyway. It's just a great CD and a must have if your a real Who fan.
Free Music Review: correction Hit: 5 StarsIn the Amazon write up it says Tommy was the 1st rock opera. It is actually the 3rd, behind the Pretty Things S. F. Sorrow, and The Kinks "Arthur."
Free Music Review: What Is It? I'll Take It. Hit: 5 StarsWow! After Tommy and Who's Next, there was almost nowhere but down for the next Who album. But, instead of playing it safe, the band actually tries to outdo Tommy, with another so-called "Rock Opera" and two-record set. And they come sooooo close.
Quadrophenia marks the end of an incredible run of Who genius, from Tommy to Who's Next to Quadrophenia. If I had to pick just one to take to that proverbial desert island, I'd sneak all three aboard.
Completely different than Who's Next, and nothing like Tommy, Quadrophenia instead breaks new ground with four separate and distinct sides of music reflecting four different personalities. The result, from "The Real Me," to "Had Enough" to "5:15" to "Dr. Jimmy" is just incredible. This album would be any other band's crowning achievement. Instead, it's "just" their third straight 5 star album. And that's only because there aren't 6 stars!
