Free Music Notes for The Who: The Ultimate CollectionFree Music Review: A MUST FOR THE YOUNGER GEN Hit: 5 Stars
The Who is such an important piece of Rock and Roll history, and I cant urge enough that every single person that is under twenty and a hard rock/Metal fan should have this is thier collection. The Who has inspired so many of todays muscians, and for all those that love to see Metal Bands smash instruments up, and play a ear deafing concert, then you should own this CD from the band that pretty much put those things on the map. Sure Hendrix did some great on stage things also, but The Who broke the record for having some of the loudest concerts ever. (they were in the Guiness Book of World Records for awhile, but this was back in the late 80's, and I am sure someone has broken the record by now) but anyway, I am sure you get my point. They were loud, extreme, and a great bunch of musicans, so own a piece of history to your collection, and when you get a chance, put away the Likin Park, Three Doors Down, and Nickelback CD's and listen to how good Hard Rock was back in the day...ENJOY
Free Music Review: Great Hit: 5 Stars
This album is a great composition of the greatest songs produced by the who. Who by the way for pissed off critic, have not been entirely together since 1978 or 1979 when the amazing drummer, who is ranked as one of the best of all time Keith Moon died. And for Funny, Pete Townshend is the one who got in trouble for the pictures, who is the guitar player. His possesion of the pictures was for research into a book about the subject. But anyway, a lot of Pete's lyrics are about child abuse. And it is his mastery at puting subltle messages in his lyrics that makes the who such a powerful band. They don't merely write love songs like the Beatles and Stones. They are groundbaking in more that one regard, and this album is a great peek into the world of The Who. It will really open your eyes to the world of rock. A must buy. The only problem is once you buy the album you won't be able to get enough, and you will start buying every WHo album available.
Free Music Review: One of the best greatest hits efforts I have seen Hit: 5 Stars
I have always been a fan of The Who. For me, each album is fun for the cuts that weren't big hits. This collection gives us the highlights of some of their wonderful stuff. I bought it to give my kids a condensed taste of what The Who are about. Then they can seek out the complete albums. This isn't all their good stuff, but it is a very very good two disk compilation. For me the early stuff is just fine and Tommy is still worth hearing. But Quadronphenia is growing on me ever more. Sure there are some cuts I wish were on here, but what would I leave off? There are definitely arguments to have this instead of that, but everything here is worth having. Like I said, view this is an introduction to what their career was about and then go seek out the complete disks for more great stuff. The Who is a band that has a huge amount of stuff worth hearing that benefits from repeated listening. There are a few others, but not many.
Free Music Review: Still Maximum R&B! Hit: 5 Stars
Spanning 30 years of pounding drums, pop lyrics, deep bass lines, and guitar synthesizers, "The Who: The Ultimate Collection" is probably the best overall collection of songs any CD. Starting with The Who's early work in the 1960s, the first CD covers the band's R&B style that put them on the map. Songs such as "I Can't Explain" and "My Generation" defined The Who's pop image. While later on the first CD, and the whole second CD, songs such as "Baba O'Riley" and "Bargain" tell what gave the The Who it's rock sound and wonderful use of guitar synthesizers. The two CD set provides over 70 minutes of listening music that can fill anyone's ears for a decent time. The CD has something for everyone, whether it's R&B or Rock n'Roll. This isn't a "listen to one time" CD at all. Also, a bonus CD gives an extra reason to buy. This CD is well worth the price!
